I beg to differ. 6 years ago, I was living and working in the Redmond, WA at a rather large software company that shall remain unnamed. You would not believe how much people were investing in this game. Friends and co-workers were dropping hundreds of dollars on card sets and boosters.
There is a reason that us non-believers started calling Magic "Cardboard Crack" since it is expensive, addictive, and serves no real purpose.
I'm not sure if it was because Wizards of the Coast® is a local company or these people had more money than they knew what to do with.
Time for the obligatory:
"Imagine a beowulf cluster of these" (guidance computers). Really, in order for accurate laser tracking to hit it's target, you would need a fairly high powered computer on the plane or a cluster of smaller ones doing weather simulations based on real-time weather data to prevent skewing of the beam due to the differences in pressure cells.
I can see this making advancements in producing affordable head-mounted displays. Personally, I wouldn't mind having a set by Microvision, but the technology still is quite expensive. But this has the potential to create low cost active 3d goggles at a decent resolution. Good enough for Quake III at 1600x1280 perhaps?
Wait! Sony recently pulled a series of TV ads according to Reuters. The Sony Ads, depicting a couple of rednecks kidnapping santa to force you to buy at Sony's store, are at AdCritic.
Turn this around for a second. If a tetrachromat defines a color as being white, like all R+G+B+Q values equalling 100%. If this were the case, what would the rest of us trichromats see?
I used to work at a shop that repaired and reprogrammed pagers. The software put out by Motorola enables you to change the capcode (ESN) and the carrier frequency in the 929.0 to 932.0 Mhz range. Most carriers when they send out these pagers to shops have a password on the pager itself to get to the programming. You have 8 attempts to enter the correct password before the pager will disable itself, and therefore must send back to Motorola or a licensed repair shop to have them reset the pager. (it involved some soldering on the older Lifestyle/Bravo/Advisor models as well as some specialized equipment to read the code pages off the IC) Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to play too much with the new LS350/LS550/LS850 models before I left that place...
secondly it says the data rate is ~7Gb / hour which is far greater than DVD
This is a given since all DVD's at this present time have an NTSC encoded image for NTSC recievers like TV's, software decoders, hardware decoders and so on. Developers still have to solve the problem of writing dual layers on a DVD with a conventional DVD-RAM drive instead of `stamping` them like they do today to make writing a 1080i signal to DVD...Although I am waiting for the day.
Yes, I know the point is redundant, but `tis the facts folks.
Let's let this troll die quickly....can't....resist...gotta throw in my.02
Flynt has only alleged this and has no evidence to back the claim since the informant and him could not agree on a price. The woman at the center of the controversy denied ever having intercourse with Bush has blasted Flynt telling him to "put up, or shut up" with the facts on the Drudge Report last week.
I was using USelessWest/Qwashed DSL service for a good 10 months, but a billing problem hosed my account and they disconnected me. They admitted the problem was at their end, but when I tried to get my DSL service restored, they said all of a sudden that my line no longer qualified.
Needless to say, my opinion of the forementioned company has been forever tarnished. Their ISP service was well below par as well. I had a Cisco 675 they sent me, but did not offer any static IP's, saying those were $15/month extra.
I will plug one company in the Puget Sound Region that has excellent ISP for DSL service, Olywa.net. Their fee is a flat $25/month up to 512kpbs and that includes 5 static IP's. And their tech support knows their stuff too.
Picture this, was brought to you by my own twisted imagination:
A typical full size tower running with this type of coolant circulating the entire computer in a clear plexiglass case, throw in a few of those those little plastic fish, some plastic flora, presto! An instant aquarium!

Or even live out your fantasies with Lara Croft.
They went to Japan for a CEATEC show and all I got was this stupid Tamagotchi.

LOL. Except, the government wouldn't be hiring you in the to do scripting for them.
And don't forget that Apple got the idea from Xerox for a GUI in the first place.
Don't forget that with most cards, you are usually liable up to a certain deductable amount (usually $50).

The chicks will come running!
As a matter of fact, I do know where to find that info. Drop these guys an email: www.3m.com www.tdk.com www.maxell.com
Don't forget about that white elephant known as The Drug War that Washington thinks it can win by wasting your tax dollars on it.
Does this mean that old Lazer Tag might be worth something?
