Exactly. Anyone who REALLY thinks that everyone will be recripicol in this case needs to get their head examined. This most certainly is NOT a perfect world, but utopia is pretty much the unmentioned ingredient in this "no-privace-curteous-village" scenario. Utopia we ain't got, so this village thing really ain't gonna work...

Egads, but I really think the creators of Shadowrun had/have something here...

The DOJ trial is just daily amusement. The real killer will either be when more games ship for Linux (YES!), or these Fortune 500 companies band together and hand Microsoft the portion of their Y2K expenses for which Microsoft is responsible for.

Egads people, microsoft is bad and all that, but here's a clue: microsoft, nor any other company, is responsible for the y2k thing? Not legally, anyways... most software licenses state that this product is used AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I can't wait for all these licenses to pop up the minute the law suits start, and watch everyone get a clue. And if all this doesn't come to pass, it just shows that most people in this world are in need of a swift kick in the head...

The recent increase in foreign H-1B visas should confirm that corporate america values some attributes that foreign engineers bring that they cannot in the domestic job market. This despite some major corporations announcing a number of layoff.

Yeah, they (the corporations) like the fact that they can bring over some rather unsuspecting foreigner, and make them some form of indentured servant by paying them a pittance, and waving the threat of no citizenship or loss of the visa over their heads.

Anyone who really belives that there were so few programmers in the US to fill all the jobs needs to have their head examined. Corporations made all that bullshit up just so they could get their fodder for a lot cheaper than they would have had to pay if the potential employees were American. And the government, clueful as they are, agreed with them.

    It's a sad, sad world.

so what if he knows/doesn't know about the Dragon Book... Knowing about the existance of the Dragon Book, and what it is about, is of itself nothing. Actually reading and grokking the book is another matter entirely, and not one that is for "hAck3rz" only...

if you want to pretty much throw your life in the shitter... Not everyone is going to make it ok like this guy... And the days are fast approaching where a college degree will be a necessity in the computer field.

And please don't bitch about schools not being able to teach the most up and coming technology. That is not their job. The prime lesson you should get out of school is how to learn and pick that stuff up on your own. Most people don't get their hands held in the real world.

Egads. Some people really need to see the real world. It can almost make you go to college...
