ehh.. do you know him personally ? i dont see the points, you are mad about.. he didnt say beos is better than linux... he didnt even say bsd is better than linux and he neither said nvidia-driver and reiserfs is crap.. in fact he said that the nvidia-drivers are the reason he wouldnt use bsd.. so whats your point apart from offending/.ers ?
ever tried the magical invention of copy&paste ? I have never met a real programmer, that actually _types_ all his lines. its merily a process of transforming existing code from api-documentations, tutorials, references and existing sourcecode. and there are many editors with autocompletition and macro expansion as mentioned by other replies. I wonder, why people have to talk about something, they have no idea of. for me the most annoying thing in programming languages is memory-management... thank god for garbage collection!
Well, this is not about today, this is a beginning for the future.
It might be, that resolution and colorRange are dramatically lower than on 70mm film,... BUT I am sure you owe a computer =) (wait, wait... let my explain!).
First they had...aehm... quite shitty visualisation-quality and *don't* speak about sound ( except you are a big kraftwerk fan;) ), but then their capabilities had grown, leading to the need to buy one computer after another:(, but the evolution was stunning... today I can watch TV and DVDs, can listen to music and am able to make some music (aeh... sort of) and films (3D-Studio) by myself. And there is no ENDcoming as far as I can see into _future_.
But what does that mean in the context of.>{ CinemaDigitalis }<. ?
...lets.seeee....
theResolution: take the progress in digitaly capture images with small PhotoCams. They archieve 3.3 million pixels... hmm (*calc*) thats about 2000 x 1600.. today, compared to 1 million pixels a yearPair ago and I have heard about some law, that had something todo with double9month or so (18?), but I really can't remember...;-) )
theFramerate: One of the most annoying thing in cinema is the lousy framerate. 24 frames per second... pah Back than in demoLand there were 2 different kind of animation: ^smoooothEyeCandy^ and _twoFramers_. If we can lift the framerate to perhaps 48, 50, 60 or whatever frames per seconds, we will get sharp single pictures of..mmoovviinngg->..ttaarrgeettss->atLAST<.
extraData: you can include <-controllin-> data for lightShows, interAction and yeah 3D information... all you need is a capable -projectionSystem- and the incapablestill play the movie...:> just invent a goodmultimediaFormat and there you gooooo....
everythingElse: digital is not just a buzzword, its the key to technologicalEvolution, I mySelf have noIdea, what our world once will be, if all information is digital, maybe than you have to call it BRAIN, but that's another story:)
just reelaxh and let it flow... so in a couple of years, maybe -{> TEN <}-, you will once wake up and think for yourself"Twenty years ago, they use 70mm film in cinema, what a joke..."
i am a little bit disturbed, if people compare not using a questionable product in a government with burning books and imprisoning jews in workcamps.
if you would live in germany (like i do) and wont give a fuck about this discussion, noone forces you to NOT use this software.
despite this, scientology is closely investigated by the german agencies for national security (Verfassungsschutz). so the german government not just *feels* scientology is bad, they have a pretty clear view of what scientology is and wants at least compared to most of the/. posters, me included !
no no, mozilla is not dead... it comes slowly, but powerfull. what you hear now is the sound of a stampede, just hiding behind the hill.
there are numerous reasons for that:
mozilla runs on nearly all platforms
mozilla is much more stable in m17, so there is MUCH progress at this issue
mozilla is much faster in m17, so this point will be improved, too
the mozilla-exe can be run without installation
mozilla can implement coporate design
mozilla makes the newest technologie (like xml and componental-structure) usable on every platform
i had a discussion with a friend about a project, where large amounts of preformatted text must be categorized and made searchable for cdrom publishing. the view application and the displayed text shall have the corporate design of the publishing company.
it all comes down, that we need to categorize the text with xml-tags and make some stylesheets for diplay of the categories and their content in the different search-masks. than we need to find a offline xml-viewer, that runs on all desired platforms and some kind of script language to implement the functionality. nice would be a sdk for changing the viewers look n feel, to match the corporate design... and it should be really cheap..
hmmm... think for your self... mozilla is not only cool, because its..eh.. cool; its cool, because it implements features, that are really needed by companies... at least needed in the near future (..ok, this is good for mozilla;) )

hmm.. this simply doesnt work: Class System.out.println not found in import... so do _you_ learned the language ?

if this is marketing speak, then use arguments to disprove mine.

cylabif this also fails, get in touch with people like OO-designers (not hardcore coders, no think-C-gurus).
