And when I post on my own, I have to choose circles to share it with. Fine. But once it's posted, it doesn't tell me which ones. So if I think I did something wrong and change the sharing, a second post appears.
On your post, in the top right, it will tell you. Limited, Public, etc. Click that and it will show you who the post is shared with.

If you go to your stream you should see "Invite people to join Google+" at the bottom of the right column, underneath hangouts and mobile.
Still going strong. Even though I'm sure for every invite I send 5 others will send you one as well.
