More to the point, it could greatly increase the cost of running webmail services (not to mention mailing lists). Now, the big webmail providers might be prepared to play along - they might even build some dedicated hardware for the purpose of running the protocol fast.
They'd make it run client side, i.e. a Java applet.
Better them pestering windows lusers then me. On a side note, I seem to be responisble for the ICQ spam for xpurt.com stopping. I managed to find a few windows workstations owned by that company, and after sending a few NetBOIS popup messages telling them to quit spamming people, they did. Sweet. I guess feeding them thier own medicen did the trick.
They will if you know what you want. I have to call them at work a lot, they are morons, but will resopond nicely to "Can I please have the IP information for this line?". They still suck though:P
There are no less then 3 loacly-owneb-and-operated ISPs where I live, and I work for one of them. Since the one I work for does not offer DSL, I have it through one of the others. I've talked to the sysadmin at that ISP a few times, very cool guy. As to SBC.... They can kiss my fuzzy white ass. At work, we use them to provide the DSL lines to run our wireless service on, and they break one of the lines every few months. At least the tech support people there are reasonable about giving me IPs when I call with out making me do any useless crap.
I was thinking about such a system, except that it would ring the phone unless there was no caller ID data, in which case they would be instructed "If you are a telemarketer please add me to your do not call list, otherwise, leave a message after the beep." This could be done with vgetty.
The people did NOT elect Bush. He is only president due to a quirk in the way our election is run. More people voted for Gore. There is also suspected foul play in Florida'a ballots. The other problem is people voting when they have not informed themselves....
Just guessing here... Could you really argue that you have a reasonable expectation of people to read that? In almost all cases it will just be an MTA connecting to it and reading the number codes, which is often not under the control of the user (probably thier isp). Even if it were a user operated MTA, you can't reasonably expect the user to see that message. it would be like setting an http header that says "dy downloading this web page you agree to give us your first born child".
Come to think of it, that drive is actualy still working as the primart hard drive of another computer, without problems. I was thinking of a diffrent hard drive.
Been working for over a two years. I'd been running my swap file on it, but in the last couple months it's started to stop responding after runing constantly for a few days. Seems ok when I have it running for a few hours to download stuff i intend to burn right away. Probably a sign it's getting ready to die, though it's S.M.A.R.T. information says it's fine.
....so then someone will set up shop in your living room and start selling drugs from there? And of source the home owner gets the blame. I think that's about equivlent.....
They finaly mad it so you can change IPs without rebooting.

try softhome.net. they rock, but I'm not sure how they manage to stay in business.

The problem is figuring out who the fuck made the pre recorded call.

Only windows and Mac OS have flash 6. I have flash 5 and it works, but not on some new content. Some of the platforms you mention noly have flash 4.
