senders of unsolicited bulk/commercial email to or through this system will be billed at a rate of one cent (one one-hundredth of one dollar) per byte of data with a ten dollar per message minimum to cover storage, bandwidth, time and personal annoyance costs. such billing does not apply to personal messages or double-opt-in (in which the user requests a subscription and is sent a confirmation message that must be responded to before further mailings take place) mailing lists. sending any data other then 'quit' constitutes aggreement to the aforementioned terms.

I'm seriously considering making my mail server display this. Comments on enforcability/improvements/loopholes?
My DVD drive is also RPC-2, and last I looked, there was no firmware hack for it. The problem is minimized because I'm in the USA, but I can always look online for a title key, or just crack the pisspoor encryption. RPC-2 is on all 8x+ drives, and some earlier ones. With 4x or less you should be ok.
My ISP just throttles my DSL to 256/128 for a day or two if I've been using it too much ( downloading Linux ISOs, or anime fansubs sometimes set it off. ) after I'm done, thier system waits a while, then releases the throttle. It really doesn't bother me ( I don't use file sharing apps regularly ), and if it did, I'd just switch.
Actualy.... Just do one yourself in mp3/ogg and post it on the net to be listened to alongside the movie. You could ethier just correct the inacurecys, or just heckel.
I have called them not once but thrice asking them to stop sending me tose damn things. I told them (truthfuly) that I do not own a compatible operating system, yet they keep sending them to me. I should make thier tech support walk me through installing it on linux.
A browser with a full list of javascript routines and how to handle them would be nice. what I really want is the ability to pipe all my html through a program (or several) before rendering it. Then you can filter out ads and other crap with the power of [insert favorite scripting language here].
Well, there's also the problem of fanding the culprit. Unless you're watching it, you won't notice for a while. like those popunders, but even less noticable.
Stick it behind a linux firewall and use some packet rewriting to forward outgoing ads to to thier mailserver. Or better yet, replcae the outgoing ads with your own.
A guy from my LUG has one, it kicks ass. I haven't heard about syncing it tho. It's more of a geek toy then a PDA, but I'm sure sharp will update the software so syncing will work better.
I just love those porn sites that hijack IE to helpfuly change your homepage, add some helpful bookmarks, slap some icons on your desktop and install a 900 dialer in your startup menu.
I have seen this done, it's a serious pain in the ass to fix. I would call it infecting the user with a troajn that has the purpose of being a pain to remove and making the site owners money in very probably illeagle ways.

I have konqueror do that. I don't have to hunt down the damn popup and close it.

There is certianlt adware for linux (opera)....
DDoS attacks could kill major backbones.

99% of people are computer morons.

with gator, it can get all his passwords that gator has, and doesn't it store your creditcard info?
You're thinking of local echo. I have, however heard that old apps may refer to this a half-duplex.
I've used the linux plugin, it works great.
It selectivly blocks user agents, not selectivly allows. You can get in with konqueror.

Can't you just block the ad server in your hosts file?
That's actualy a Microsoft extension that everybuddy else supports. It is pretty nice for quickly finding a site in your bookmarks.
Konqueror doens't lie to it's javascript engine.
Theres your user agent and some java/javascript/ms crap that'll rat out your browser
IE has that built in. Uninstall hotbar and use one of those registry tweakesr to change the image.

It's flash only and has some unplesent looking javascript that seems to try to disable all your toolbars and fullscreen the browser.
