Some of your arguments were what the theaters used early in the game when TV first came out in the 1950's and was first getting adapted. In essence what happened was the quality of TV was crappy at first but was thought to be dangerous. The same reasoning could be applied to a story about war and the real thing. "Well with real war, you can actually get hurt by bullets have blood and brains spilled on your shirt, stand in a trench, and have a miserable time not for 10 minutes reading it but for a couple of years fighting in it what could be better?"
What if I live in Cuba or Iraq and have a web page with the movie? Would it be possible for someone to prevent that from being released? How big is this thing anyway? And where could it be retrieved from? I can't think of many ISP's or anyone who just has an extra 25Gb to spare for just one file.
The business mentality is directly against what technology is about in the first place. Basically you start to think of money making for the sake of making money and it becomes a vicious cycle. You never get to think of anything else. That's why "professional business" will be my last choice when I go to get a job.
How much would it cost for example for me (if I did all the installation myself) would it be to get something like a T-1/T-3. It seems that such high bandwidth is prohibitively expensive since most of the Home--->Telco cabling is all analog stuff.
Real mature get someone of that stature busted just to serve an injust law. Sounds quite similar to the reactions of southern whites to actions of the Freedom Riders, etc.
Mostly people buy upgrades in a retail setting. However you can buy win98 as the full version if you buy if as an OEM. I think this entails purtchessing a HD or some other thing like a motherboard with it so the requirement can be met.
Well mainly I feel that just letting anyone get away with anything is pure crap too in regard to rights. What is happening is that these people are one of the only ways to see this movie in the reality of it. Oh sure you could try to get it off the net with what?? About 5 Gigs of data being transmitted over a crappy modem over standard telephone lines? Good luck!. The problem is that there is not much choice if I want to see a movie when it's released. If I wanted I should have the chance to view it somewhere else. Then sure I will enjoy any ammount of "evil" in my own home and they can have their silly rules. Until that time comes I will continue to view actions such as these to be an enchroachment on my right to see the movie in a timely fashion, without hassle.
Interesting. Interestingly the only way a movie can get a "G" rating is that is use animation. This proves that movies of a low rated calibur are in essence unreal. People in real life make mistakes and don't act like angels. If you look really deep you can get a chance to make things interesting like as I heart somewhere you could analyze the societal, political, and moral ideas relating to Snow White and the 7 dwarves.
Actually the best way to become a "natzi" is to make it appear that the government that you establish is not a "natzi" one. Basically you lie and discredit. The whole premise behind 1984 was control. That control was not really handled in a totally transparent way to everyone; unfortunately those that saw it (like Winston) were persecuted through elaborate schemes and the like. The thing is that the 1984 type of thing is not really possible since people already know what to expect from the governemnt and will resist. The same goes with things like a dinosaur theme park due to Jurassic Park because people already have something to object to wheather it be real or not. I for one would have liked to see dinosaurs in a park like that. The one fatal flaw was that they hired a complete moron to program their systems and didn't have manual backups for the major systems.
I think equating the use of such things as su to compromise security as totally pointless. Even though look at just HOW secure NT is. Nt only meets the lowest level of the DoD's trusted network certification criteria anyway so it's really not the best thing.
As I mentioned in an earlier post I thought virii were cool as well with all the info that the asm gives. It really is quite nice. Well eventually I found linux and achieved nirvana but that is another day's worth of stories.
What could someone have to gain with something of that large scale. How could someone just risk getting legal action taken against them and being thrown in prison. Somehow I can't see Linus as being a criminal.
Well I always check my logs and I don't have any unmentioned entried:). However I can conceede that point to you anything is possible. I just think associating problems in a movement with the movement itself is a really bad idea in general. This is just an attempt to make crackers=open source=linux hackers/enthuasiasts in general to make the movement loose power.
I think linux is the best platform in that respect. I used to be real big into figuring all sorts of assembly programming out and the best source to find about how to code assembly is to look at some viruses first. A large ammount of the code is avaible. What made this so dangerous for (and still does) microsoft operating systems is that they rely on specific dos operating system calls that have been around for quite some time. This has given people a better than passing familarity with the api's necessary to create viruses.
I sincerely hope your joking? Are you? Well I had a rather insane thought. Get a movie any/every movie you can find and then grab the frames with bttv use the support for aalib or just dump them to files and convert them to ascii and presto you have an entire version of say the original star wars in ascii.
I just might publish the top 100 most interesting posts (anonymized) to slashdot sometime. I get such interesting ideas from this site. *Insane laughter*

Hmm... well someone might get suspicious when you start buying cases of beer and cigs enought for an entire marine division :)
Yeah and don't expect anyone to cut you any slack. The penalties for most people being late in these jobs is less than humane.

Was anyone prosecuted? If that happened to me I would just get a real good lawyer and look dumb.

Yeah the only time I actually have had root access at all has been at home on my 486.

I really don't like the thought of never having a private moment to do anything in my life with cameras like these
Wow he really is concerned with limos? Cool.
Actually in proper english grammer it would be "more clearly" not "more clearer".
Just couldn't resist.

Now that you mention it....
Really it is if you go to http://www.gnu.org is shows a bison or something like that. I just think the picture just sucks.
I thought *emacs and company were a better choice.
