The fool could try however he would not succeed. What makes this world great is that you can do something about an injustice what ever it is anything at all. If someone tried to take down my site I would bring them to court and make them pay.

The only time I ever hated anyone directly because they were a homosexual was probably some kid who kept anoying me in highschool and kept bothering me with vivid descritptions about such behavior. Mostly I was just turned off by his lack of common conduct. However this is not the way most people act. There are jerks and polite people from all over. What people are seeing when the think of gay people in a bad light is most likely the instince I encountered.
Basically it is because not a whole lot of people have the same views. The same effect can be achieved with womeone who wears a pink shirt to work instead of a white one (like all the other people). Just draws a reaction.
It could be that sysadmins have the mentality they do due to limited size of genitals so they compensate by administering BIG machines. Just a thought.
I would feel rather flattered that I would be well known enough that someone wasted a couple days in photoshop making me look like a homosexual just to embarass me?? Is that supposed to be emparassing? This guy must be delusional
Let me begin by saying that something libelous is quit bad for the person expecially if it means that his family is involved. This response must be temered with one of rationality about the event. Did he really suffer any harm. Seems to me that this person shutting down his server and "taking away his livelyhood" from his page is rather harsh.
In addition I am an ardent person who believes that Acceptable Use Policies (AUP's) are bad. No worse than bad just plain authoratarian and more like natzi's or maybe Doestyveski's Grand Inquisitor. It really seems that people have to force their belief's down other's throat's in this world. Every time I ever have to use a public computing service it makes my blood boil that I have to put up with stupid, inane rules that have little practal importance. For example I pay tax dollars to fund things like libraries to have a better computer than I have at home. Then they turn around and say that I cannot do this and that. It just makes me want to strike at the heart of them when I do get something better (get $100,000 and buy a top of the line machine with the finest network protocols and produce a better FREER service than they offer). This guy seems to be the type of person that many sysadmins are just a restrictive loud BOFH. Most of the people I have met in this area are quite (how shall we put this delicately.....evil) they were rude to me to the point of me giving the name of the lawyer who would contact them. They act like everything is their private fiefdom and no one has any rights. They speak of users like they were some sort of permanent underclass of people who just don't have a clue. I really thought that someone like harvard with people paying >$30,000US a year to go there would be above siding with a fool like this. It seems that all network admins are just not in tune with what it means to be fair, pleaneant, or knowledgable with anyone.
I know for this if I ever get a job like that I will make sure on my grave that I will make sure people get a fair shake and not tossed around like so much trash. I say why dosn't harvard grow up and give people more freedom!
Let me tell you what this now means. Basically this will mean that this site turns into one of those boring sites that really and truely has no appeal to me. One of the nice things I liked about this service is that individuals could post and administer the site (in this case Rob and his associates) at any time they choose. Now tell me you haven't seen the laziness from business types ala dilbert. Basically the quality will go way down because you need to have people dedicated to doing something that they really enjoy.
How is some network company going to get people motivated over a "news" site? Also with all the work they will have to do how will they continue to enjoy what they do?
Here here. Most people don't think about how much traffic and what will actually happen to the computer that is running it. If you have a site that is going to be running finicial transactions and authenticating people as well a repeated hits from the same ip's from people bidding you probably should have something that serves up dynamic content pretty damn fast. As well as making things stable enough. Probably should have some sort of load balancing and fallover to alternate systems.
I think that may be part of the problem with some sites in regard to 24/7/365 uptime. Mostly what I have seen is that microsoft products tend to work well for the tasks that MICROSOFT specifically thinks that you will use them for. Although it is technically feasible to run such a system for heavy duty services I would rather choose IBM for its reliability as a vendor of database tools and support if I had to choose a proprietary solution. However linux or bsd (which has some pretty optimised code for fast net access from all indications) would be a better idea if someone is there to get it up and running.
I think it it not the fact that the brain has a capacity it is that we onlt use a verry small fraction of our brain to do anything.
If someone is to create anything that interfaces with the body it will require large ammounts of testing and refinement and then still the device will be suspect. What has science fiction been telling us for so long?? Basically if someone is a fool and uses equipment/technology before it is ready disasterous results can occur. Let me say if I make my brain a hd I will not allow a Micro$oft product to run on it.

Not typically most of our cost of living expences are far less than that of Europe. Most of what occurs in Europe occurs maybe before America because most people have some more money to spend on experimental products. What I think is that it is just the speed in which people find out about something and think that it's a good idea to change. Not all ideas are so good remember DIVX?
Maybe I am not understanding but what will become of my old television? Will PBS be taken away from me so that I have to make a several THOUSAND dollar investment just to watch something that is supposed to be FREE.
This is the same principle why such things as hotmail are just plain stupid. If I purtchess an account (email) from an isp why would I need something like that. I get more options. I get to control what I recieve. I can filter as I choose. and as well as having control as to how email is read.
If this is the case I will just invest the money for the FREE pbs access and just pay for a top of the line computer to access the net 24/7/365 and do things that way.
I attended East High School which is in the Salt Lake City School district and have had experiences which pretty much summs puts most of those individuals in charge of UEN to be completely biased against anyone getting freedom. I inquired one indivudual who worked for the district as a network admin. I asked about this particular case that apparently has found new ground. He said that supposedly they keep log files up to 100Gb in size and that they just in the article didn't do it intentionally. This is just complete crap. As for how they treat people just look at their web page for yourself EHS and see for yourself about the way they run things. Pretty much what they do at all schools happens there except that they are the best of the bunch. They have the most highly developed sence of fairness. Most of the webpages they have there are completely useless. They almost never update them on a regular basis. Students cannot get a page with out practally having to sign a statement in blood about what they will do with it and then it cannot have any outside content without getting the school in dutch. All my statements are true and factual in regard to their policies. They just don't want to have any problem at all with the slightest thing. They ran through sever content filtering services including Bess. The filtering got so blatant that they filtered all free web page providers including geocities, tripod, etc.
I think I really don't care if it is subversive at all. Most of what the software industry does it cater to the people who buy it. If all you have is free software or even a mix of the two you may just have crappy software with some underlying good stuff. If linux were ran that way we would have something similar to NT but with a few benefits. It's people who think with the common man or even the poor man who really do justice to all of us.
I for one ceternally have not and do not associate with microsoft in any way shape or form. If they cannot support their DOS product line or make improvements for their low end users then it really dosn't matter to me. I use Linux. Mr. Gates can take a long walk off a short pier for all I care.
The fool could try however he would not succeed. What makes this world great is that you can do something about an injustice what ever it is anything at all. If someone tried to take down my site I would bring them to court and make them pay.

I guess that rules out the mirror thing damn
Yeah it was however it is still nice to get the word out to people who don't view the whole ball of wax (-1 comment threshold) like me.
Incidently I might act as a partial mirror if I could just out of principle of the thing.
