Your wasting your time. the very people you're speaking to are 90 percent of the people that should be banned from the internet for foul language, sexual deviance and dangerous views that, in my opinion, represent a serious threat to national security.

This is another example of the global fall from grace and general neglection of Christian values.

The amount of cursing here (eg cunt fuck piss wanker shitter motherfucker etc etc) is evidence alone of the moral slide that is purpetuated by the internet.

I for one hope that access to the Internet2 will be possible via carefully vetted and monitored ISPs, where users are held fully responsible by law for what they view, say and think.

I for one am tired of watching todays over sanitised news.

When a war breaks out people should see the slaughter - the true effects of a bomb on a populated area - the grief and mayhem caused by mass death and destruction.

When a murder is commited the grusome reality of it should be shown.

Failing to hammer home the effects of these events deadens peoples reactions to them, creates appathy, and thus, perpetuates the situation.
How often do news providers, in any format, decided not to carry a picture (usual obtained through great risk to the reporters and photographer/cameraman) claiming protection of public senseabilities? To often in my view.

Most internet news providers seem to be governed by the same politically correct (read politically manipulated) values as TV. The news delivery format may have chaneged but the bland and censured content remains the same.

Perhaps there's now room for a truely honest and un-tampered with news service through the reletively un-controlled content the web can offer?

If you're downloading mp3s for nothing - and someone produced and recorded the music with the intention of you paying to listen to it - then you ARE stealing it.
Except it and shut-up - don't try to justify it with pathetic pseudo cyber-hippy arguements like "big-corporations don't deserve our money 'cos they over charge us"!
I.T. has the some of the most inflated rates of any industry. I'm sure most of you are well familiar with the concept of over-charging!
And has it occured to anyone that in the end someone MUST pay - otherwise the system breaks down. People cannot persevere in any field without making money enough to live on.

If you're so bothered about having a new world where everything is free why not give up your job and go and live in a self sufficient commune, grow you own vegtables and sit in pig shit all day. I think you might miss your Coke, Pizza, Cable TV and other assorted luxuries provided to you by various "evil" corporations.
Or better still, do your current job for nothing because thats is basically what you expecting others to do!

    Grow up!

    Is this right?

Surely the majority of people who are likely to take up Linux are the same ones that seem to abhore AOL (as suggested from the content of 90% of the posting here)

I don't think Joe public really sees the need to switch to Linux because the relative merits would be lost on him. M$ (for all its many faults) runs his apps and he gets loads of support by way of the huge user base.

So AOL is on Linux - its also on M$ so why change?

Flame in indignant fury if you want but it won't change the fact the most PC/net users are NOT techies.

Since (as a Britney fan) you're probably only about 14 I guess this is to be expected.

Try being yourself same average bloke in, for instance, an oppressive state like Burma, and see how much the government enjoy knowing what the "average bloke" is doing, and how much they relish the chance to know exacly what average things you're getting up to - so they can then make you their idea of average.

I say Burma but it could be any number of countries with oppresive regimes.
