I believe some recent research has shown that ulcers are in fact caused by bacteria and are not related to increased levels of stress or other traditional causes.
It was actually quite ridiculous, especially standing in line at registration and having people passing down this wild rumor - "Did you hear there's guys from CSE here..."

I fail to see why anyone in the Linux community (who publish everything including their diaries and photo albums on the web and in their mailing lists) is worried about talking to a bunch of people who happen to be employed by CSE, most of whom probably do the same things on a daily basis that everyone else at the OLS does - like write code. Duh.
IMHO, if I were you I'd be much more worried about guys from Microsoft and the ZD/PC/Pro-MS press corps in the audience then a bunch of stupid excitement about people there from the government.
I haven't seen the new layout, but I'm sure that it's better than no layout at all.
This reminds me of a flame from a few years ago that you can read about on Eric Bina's webpage re: Motif vs Athena widget support in Mosaic.
Same argument: people who get Internet stuff for free have no right to complain about it.
I agree, however if you are in this business (hobby, whatever) and you change a popular product people are going to bitch.
If you are expecting them to send you monetary donations in the mail and free pizza to your door, you likely aren't going to get it.
There are way more people out there who love Freshmeat then those that are bitching and understand the work that is put into all free software/websites.
