  1. ERGM and AGS on U.S. Navy to Deploy Rail Guns by 2011 · · Score: 1

The PDF shows in there the ERGM round but it doesn't show the AGS (Advanced Gun System) Shell. Both of these are made to be gun fired out of the main guns of the DDX destroyer. After being fired the like an artillery shell the rocket motor kicks in to take it up to a higher trajectory and then it guides its self to the target using GPS navigation. Each AGS gun will have a rate of fire of 8 shells per minute , so both guns will be able lob 16 precision GPS shells at about 100 miles on to a shore target. Those shell can be fired at slightly differing angles and trajectories so they arrive at the same time.

  2. On borad sound bad, SPDIF good on Motherboard Audio Comes Of Age · · Score: 2, Informative

FOr me on board sound is not going to work. I have a 1000+ CD collection and have ripped many cd and songs to MP3. All my ripps are digitial extrationsand encoding. Compare a analog ripped song to one that has be ripped digitally you will notice the sound difference. FOr those rare ocasions that is becoming more common with each cd released. The software can't do a digital rip/ or the cd won't play in the computer. I play the CD in one of my home stereo CD players (most are over 6 years old and use the digitial SPDIF (TOSlink) outputs and use my digital I/O duaghter board connected to my soundcard to capure the digital stream. I haven't met a CD yet that i could not make into a digitally ripped MP3.

Also with the digital outputs on my daughterboard I can playback use the fiberoptic cable to play back the music on my home stereo system. So if you doa lot of recording an always have music playing from your computer a seperate soundcard is the only answer. until optical inputs/outputs become standard on motherborads

    Just my 2 cents

  3. 170,000 is from the cable subscriber side on AOL Reports Its First Drop In Subscribers · · Score: 2, Interesting

170,000 people are the Advanced/Newhouse subscribers are no longer part of AOL/Time Warner. Newhouse is the Indianapolis, Orlando , Tampa/ST Pete Time Warner subscribers. When Time Warner was going thru the massive growth in the mid 90's they merged with Advanced/Newhouse cable out of Colorado. Part of the deal was that Newhouse can pull out of the merger if conditions get bad. About 3 months ago there was an anouncement that Advanced/Newhouse would control the above TW markets but still keep the TW name. But They Tecnically are Newhouse cable . I should Know I have some dealings with the cable Industry.

"AOL said the results also reflect the deconsolidation of certain cable systems pursuant to the restructuring of the cable partnership between Time Warner Entertainment Company L.P. and Advance/Newhouse.
