  2. not totally open source on Linux Unreal Tournament Status Update · · Score: 1

only parts of UT are being open sourced specifically these libraries as it states in Brandon's .plan
I plan on open sourcing the following libraries:
    XDrv
    XMesaGLDrv
    GlideDrv
    Audio
    XLaunch
who is better ID or Epic Games is still very debatable.

  3. Good news on Judge Finds Major DNA Patent Invalid · · Score: 1

Now for a judge to find the "one-click" shopping really isn't that special or most computer patents not relating to hardware. Get UserID from a cookie, query database, place order, is the next step not anything to write home to mom about or get a patent.

  4. Well this puts a twist to Java... on Sun Withdraws Java from Standards Process · · Score: 1

3 years ago or so when I was first learning to program my dad and just about everyone was "learn Java its the future language," "have to know Java to get anywhere in computers," etc. I looked at it and really lacked the discipline/desire to sit down and learn a language that to me looked slow runnning, and overall not really the next thing. I have since never taken more than look at Java and depending on what this does for the future of it I just might be glad that I never wasted my time picking it up.

  5. Its about time some precedence was set for case on Net Gambler Sues Credit Card Company · · Score: 1

I plan to sue Bill Gates, the computer gaming industry and the real world. Gates/Micrsoft because the OS crashes and makes me lose valuable irreplaceble time. The Gaming industry keeps making these games I just HAVE to play all the time and since they only are on microsoft's OS they support microsoft's time sucking OS. I also plan to include the real world, because if it would just stop I could happily play my games all the time instead its go to sleep, go to work. Heck I might sue my own body with all of its go to the bathroom, go get food I'm hungry, go get some excercise or I'll have a heart attack or something. Shouldn't the government be protecting me from these evils?

  6. You can't win Jobs on Apple Ending Engineering Credits in Products · · Score: 1

"You can limit my mouse input to one button. You can give me a really fast processor and a limited number of programs to use on it. You can have my spot in the credits, but as God as my witness you will not take my right, as a programmer, to write easter eggs!" Jobs should expect to hear this muttered at Apple right before the fighting breaks out.

  7. Re:Question on Interview: Ask the Debian Project Leader · · Score: 0

I share Zico's sentiments. According to RMS then Macintosh must here after be known as "Adobe Macintosh" due to the fact that 90% of all Mac users do most of their work Adobe programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). I agree that Linux had a major boost by using the GNU software, but if we follow RMS to the letter then it should be GNU/Gnome/Enlightenment/GIMP/GTK+/GLibc/Linux. If you are going to distinguish GNU's contribution why not that of the others, is it because their project leaders aren't whiny crybabies? What's next RMS/Linux?

but I like my hardware to say what it is, in english, on it. Hmmm what NIC is this well it has a chip with on it. Nothing is more fun then guessing what hardware is especially if it is for a small company that has 10-15 different . It is a plesant suprise to look at the card and it says "3Com 3C905 B" that certainly helps so you don't have to try every driver there is for 3Com NICs.

  10. TCO on Microsoft Clarifies Linux Myths · · Score: 1
Thank you Bill for the information on TCO. My boss and I will be buying mail server and name server software for NT Server. That will be one NT Server license mail server license and a name server license plus the hours it will take for me to learn how to use these tools, versus Linux dist. (free) sendmail (free) and bind (free) plus the time that it takes for me to learn it.

I am sorry Bill I am not a math whiz how is the NT Server solution TCO less than Linux TCO?
