Wrong! That's it. It's Wrong. They will print a correction soon, I bet. WMP8 currently tests with the ability to encode MP3's at the bit-rate of 56. This is only because MS has no intentions of including this in the final release(so far anyway). Instead, they just threw it in there so that people could test it. Third parties will be able to add Mp3 recording abilities... or whatever other file format they want.
All you MS bashers... SIT THE HELL DOWN. You're wrong on this one.
"The sales figures that the skeptics quote should never be considered of any merit until a few games are released for Linux and Windows simultaneously."
Pipe Dreams. Linux may get a few titles that are released simultaneously, but that isn't going to be the norm for YEARS... if ever. Companies will always prioritize shipping date of it's window's version over releasing a Linux/Mac/Windows game all at once.
The first thing you can do is get OVER it!
You ARE cheap labor. I did an internship for a mjor computer company starting with I and ending with M and all I did was watch some drives do stuff.
Take on some side projects if you want. For example, I designed a web-page for the Interns at that site. Another option is to get a mentor at the company. Someone who can show you the ropes.
You can't expect to come in and do really awesome work all the time. In an ideal world, it'd be nice, but it just ain't taht way. You're probably getting paid more than any of your other friends, so enjoy it!
The issue of the blocking software is not what is so troublesome here to me. I believe that schools who wish to institute blocking policies are totally within their rights. The supremem court agrees. The high court has ruled (on numerous occasions if memory serves) that Children have "more restricted" freedoms than adults. I believe this to be the correct ruling.
HOWEVER, the involvement of the federal government is what scares me here. On one side, it is understanable that the feds don't just give money out without any conditions... would you? But on the other hand, requiring the use of blocking software seems too big brother. Perhaps requiring an Acceptable Use Policy and a plan to enforce it is better? I don't know.
Also, the selling of any information gathered by Bess is wrong. I shouldn't have to explain that.
This article is just plain WRONG!
