Why are you bragging so loudly about something you don't even know the first thing about? You can specify plenty of things about java's heap size when starting a program, such as minimum heap, maximum heap, increment, etc...

What is wrong about that again?

  2. Re:Sad on Court Rules in Favor of Anonymous Blogger · · Score: 2, Insightful

What is needed is a much better system than that. People will eventually become aware that blindly trusting anything anonymous is just plain stupid. This is a question of educating the population, and that usually takes a few generations. Patience will pay, I believe.

I don't, but you don't seem to have either (or you would no ddoubt have posted it). If I don't know, I am not going to spend money on doubtful stuff. You don't even provide one of these "extensive documentation of the legitimacy, legality, and safety of e-commerce transactions with allofmp3.com". Where are they?

This is just bad configuration. When my DSL is down I can check my email (those that are already downloaded), I can work on my website (coz I have a version running at home). I can even send emails - although they will be sent later on. I can do some clean-up, work on my numerous digital pics, reorganize stuff. I almost have more stuff to do than when I have internet actually, because I don't have the distraction ;)

  17. Re:Living in the other target city (DC) on Condensing Your Life on to a USB Flash Drive? · · Score: 3, Insightful

That is a bit shortsighted. There are plenty of minor disasters that could destroy a great deal of your life and that would be sad. The one thing every people I know (or I've heard of) that had their house burn down complained about was that they lost all memories of 'before'. Not mentioning all the burnt paperwork of course, but this is just paperwork and it takes only time and effort to make it up again. Pics, Videos and sometimes an old piece of music not distributed anymore were at the top of the list.

Burning that and sending it to your parents and in laws is a minor charge and can prove usefull. Even only for a regular robbery.

Of course, if the earth was to explode, I woudn't care about that stuff anymore. But life is not all black and white. Most of the time, it is grayish.

I just love this new way:
    1. You download music (not DRM encumbered crap) legally.
    2. You give back directly to the artist, as much as you see fit.

    What more could you expect?

  22. Re:Sigh on Flash Memory with Copy Protection · · Score: 4, Insightful

This is the beauty. They can't decently propose music for sale without allowing you to burn a CD with it. So it comes down to:
    1. Burn a CD
    2. Rip the CD
    3. Enjoy!!!!

They just don't realise that a mere recording from line-out to line-in in any half-decent sound card will sound as good as the original to 99.% of the users. So they should try and prevent that as well.

But I think what they are really up to is to try and prevent users to enjoy their music. Next thing to come, you won't be able to play it either, so there! No more copy protection problems.
