Think of the art that would be produced by attaching the electrodes to a cat and then chasing it with the neighbors dog. Amazing visual with heavy meaning!
The patent system will be effected. They are attacking the companies that took advantage of the weak system. By doing so they are forcing the patents to only be of value if the are actually for innovation. I applaud what they are doing and hope they keep it up.
I have so many stacks of napkins and scratch paper from meetings and planning lunches/dinners, I love the idea of this thing. Although I am still waiting for a good tablet system, this will be a really nice option.
Leto II from Dune is not the Leto II that becomes God Emporer of Dune. Chani and Paul's next son, part of the twin set, is the Leto II that we all know from following novels. My wife had to remind me of this, I totally forgot the early child that was killed. Had to look it up to see if she was really correct.
My only complaint, the horrible back ground and green-screen effects.
I would love to vote for a Libertarian candidate, but in our two party system the third part gets screwed and the voters throw away their vote. I am not currently registered because I feel that my only true choice would be the lesser of the two evils OR to throw away my vote on a third party. Please tell me how I am wrong and show me the way to a better future.
I really take exception to your comment. My company has an online authoring/publishing product and this article makes a strong point.
How was I supposed to know someone was patenting a product similar to mine. This article points out the need for a public patent info site, or a watchdog site or some such.
This is obviously a dumb patent, but now lets discuss how to prevent this sort of patent from making it through the review process.
I don't have the money to go battle this patent, now what do I do?
Oops, that is a wake-up call for me. I never thought of the double-dose I take near deadlines to be drug use. Crazy, but how many people here who have ADD overdose on occasion?

Are you kidding me. Do you really think the current setup cares about the common voter? Once in seat, they follow the direction of special interest and big business.
Don't we have the technology to go with a true democracy? Why not let everyone vote on all legislation and have your rep/sen vote the way of his constituent majority. Or just do away with Congress all together.

I am guessing you haven't read up on I2 lately. Internet2 is the next round of major architecture changes that will be applied to the Net (as in the highway we all access today). The I2 changes will just be very high bandwidth and application of that bandwidth.
"The primary goals of Internet2 are to:
- Create a leading edge network capability for the national research community
- Enable revolutionary Internet applications
- Ensure the rapid transfer of new network services and applications to the broader Internet community" internet2.org
Actually it is human nature. Have you ever heard the kind of jokes emergency room surgeons tell? Human nature pushes us to make light of the situation and to bury the reality. The worse the event the more ghastly the humor.
Have you ever actually read one? I buy them for my Mom anytime I am having problems describing something in terms she can understand. 'Dummie' books are amazing at using metaphor to get a point across to someone who doesn't have the slightest grasp on the topic.
They also come in handy if you just need to be able talk intelligently about a subject but not really know it, like to interview someone for a job in a dicipline you are not expert in.

This is a very touchy subject.

Well, I guess that is the end of the conversation, because I agree with you here.
1. I understand we don't have a true democ. I feel that with current technology we could support one.
2. Have any suggestions on who I should vote for?

I would, but it really is a neat idea. How else could you create a governement for the people, BY THE PEOPLE.
I have been so interested in opening a sourceforge for OpenGov.
I say we try and have a v1.0 release before the 2004 elections.
Who is with me?

For a wonderful discription of the possible future of this type of interactivity, read The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson.
