"The fact is, most people probably DON'T buy MS software, they swipe it one way or another"
I have to disagree with you on this. In my LARGE company, every Windows developer has a $1000+ MSDN subscription, plus tons of other Microsoft stuff. I also believe that everyday users run, not walk, to the store to buy the latest MS apps from the local retail chain. "Oh, Windows ME - I NEED to upgrade!"
The library is a place where people go to read and to research. I don't see the point in allowing email in the library. There are computer labs, internet cafes, etc for that sort of stuff. I think this is a good move to ensure the computer is avaiable for those who "need" it. (Yes, I realize many of us - including myself need email, but you know what I mean.)
I see a ton of people on here saying that this "trojan horse" is better than a lawsuit. Metallica (and other bands backing them) are 100% correct in taking legal action - that's why the juduicial system was set up! BNL 'may' piss off Napster, but will not shut them down. Legal action will shut those criminals down for good.
Lars for President!
As a creator of intellectual property - I like to get paid for my work.
Second, everyone thinks it is easy to change the tags, but a company like IBM is going to actually put the site through a dev life cycle wich involves extensive testing.
At this stage in the game, it is not unreasonable of them to ask for financial incentives.
This is a bit off topic, but did anyone notice that the article read "the Akamai bug". Who ever said it was a BUG? This is a feature by design!
I love it when writer's put their personal "spin" on everything.
just venting - thanks.
You mean I've been having sex with my wife all this time and there's NO free beer??
Seriously, I find your social commentary right on the money. Run for president and I will vote for you.
just fyi... ACtually, IBM's PC division made money for the first time this past quarter.

"Danger Will - my arms are flailing wildly."
Better yet, put up a graphic of the plane crashing have "DANGER" flashing in red letters!
First and foremost IBM built the site for FREE!
