Lots of console games (in my experience) don't support the kb and mouse. And that's the way I like to play POV shooters and strategy games.
Yes, I understand that I may be the only person under 30 who does not think his thumbs are good for controlling video games, but that's OK. I have an alternative. If I were to no longer have the alternative, I'd be annoyed.
I'm glad that the Europeans who settled in the new world didn't have that philosophy. Like it or not, America has been the financial engine of the planet since World War II.
You don't like what I'm carrying in the back country? Fuck you./I/ am carrying it, and it has nothing to do with you and what you think is necessary.
If I think my fuzzy bunny slippers are necessary for backpacking safely, I'm bringing the slippers. If I think a.357 magnum revolver is necessary, I'm going to carry one. It's none of your damn business.
Do you have anything to base that on other than a wild-ass guess?
Dr. Robert Zubrin has a well-thought out plan that costs about a twentieth of that ridiculous $1 trillion figure. Go read about it on http://www.marssociety.org.
OK, what date should we select to establish what safety equipment is "too modern"? I just want to find out what I have to do in order for you to think I'm cool.
I think that American businesses should not be able to outsource to countries that do not accept American immigrant workers.
I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect those countries to accept American workers who are willing to relocate. Not that many Americans would accept that, but there is a principle involved.
Because in my extremely technically literate circle of friends, I am the only person to use Jabber, and the only reason I bothered creating an account is because it works nicely in Trillian. I have never gotten a Jabber message in my life.
The other IM protocols are sufficiently non-sucky to make me not care too much about Jabber. It's a great system, to be sure, but why should I take my time to evangelize it?
How about the entitlement to presumption of innocence, and the writ of habeas corpus?
99.9% of Muslim-looking people (whatever that means) are totally innocent. Just because 99.99% of the people who look like your grandma are also totally innocent does not justify disproportionate scrutiny of other kinds of people.
100.00% of ALL people are assumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
The public good is the union of individual goods. It is not appropriate to expect an individual to sacrifice essential liberties for the "good" of society, except in the extreme cases where said individual has grossly infringed on others.
Fundamental principle of liberty, and I DO NOT believe that it is any less workable in high population densities.
Government is fine. But it needs to be as small as possible. We've learned a lot in the last 200 years...I'd love to be able to charter a new social contract. I think that is the best reason to explore the solar system.

Yeah, cuz Microsoft has never done that. Couldn't happen.
"since that took place MS has modified its business practices."
Dude, that's a good one. I'm impressed that you managed to say that with a straight face.

You seem to be forgetting the satellite communications infrastructure.
The tax revenues from that cover NASA's budget. By a wide, wide margin.
Would you care to validate that with a historical example?
War is part of the human condition. It won't go away. That doesn't mean that we should stop exploring.
Because you can't get a work visa.
Wow. I think you've finally designed a phone that would look more ridiculous than the N-Gage. Have you tried to sell this idea to Nokia?

Somebody needs a hug. C'mere, big guy.
Uh huh. Try moving to India and getting a job (rather than being a tourist).
You are less welcome there than Mexican menial labor is welcome here (in the US).
Yeah, because the businessmen have your interests at heart, right?
Well, they do, if you happen to be the owner of a Fortune 500 company. And if you don't, well, you can eat cake.
No. I haven't been to any of those web sites. I seem to get along just fine without them.
Uh, you seem to be missing a very big point.
If you want to use a different copier, you have to go buy one.
If you want to use a different search engine, you type a URL into your browser.
There is no brand lock-in on the Web.
I stand corrected. I checked my log, and I've received two Jabber messages. Both of them were ill-formed HTML spams, in Spanish.
Yay Jabber.
Why not use Jabber?
Because in my extremely technically literate circle of friends, I am the only person to use Jabber, and the only reason I bothered creating an account is because it works nicely in Trillian. I have never gotten a Jabber message in my life.

Who cares?
Will Google be less good if it becomes less popular? No.
Popularity and quality are on orthogonal axes.
Computer technology, 14 years is a long time.
Any other kind of technology, it's not a long time at all.
You, my friend, need some historical perspective.
When was the last time either Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck did anything important?
You can take over an oil field with an Exxon-Mobil. No need to get the army involved.
