    Unlikely. I've worked on a few IP litigations, and a great deal of effort is put in to keep secret documents out of the public view. When the documents are discussed in court, the doors are closed, and anyone who is not allowed to see the info is removed from the courtroom. The exhibits the court uses are never released to the public, and even the transcripts are never released to the public.

    If you are patient enough, a good observer can figure out what was discussed in closed door sessions

    As long as the "retroactive" royalty payments don't pre-date the passage of the law, it's probably all legal. Chances are the law said that payments are due as of when the law was passed, subject to actions of the regulatory body that decides the rate.

    Still, that does not mean it won't have the RIAA's desired effect, which is to kill off anyone who is not already a billion dollar business

    Root may be the owner of the file, but that does not mean root owns the process when TruBlue is launched. Classic is just another application, and not a system function. As an app, the only way it gets root power is if a password is entered by an administrative user.

    Classic is not run as root, it's run as the user who is logged in. Classic can freely write to "System Folder", where the classic system lives, but it cannot write to anywhere inside /System, where all the important things live. Classic user would not be able to add itself to the X startup
    But, you could easily add to the Classic system startup, and cause lots of havoc there ..

    In any case, what about Primus' website? www.primussucks.com ? It's the official band site, which makes it pretty flack-proof, and a good case in favor of how stupid legal maneuvers like this really are.
    Does not really apply here ...Primus did not make Primussucks.com to protect themselves ... they did it because a) Primus has always introduced themselves by saying "Hi. We're Primus, and we suck!" and b) some other company already had the Primus.com domain On the other hand, the band Primus might actually have a case if they claimed that only they owned the phrase "Primus Sucks"..

    If I write a song myself, me not being a member of the RIAA have sole rights to that music and how and where I choose to sell it.
    You have the right to sell the song, or attempt to collect royalties just the same as the RIAA. It's similiar to joining BMI or ASCAP to collect royalties for radio or TV play. You are just a lot more likely to get paid if you are part of a huge organization than if you attempt to collect yourself.

    Couldn't Ticketmaster.com generate pages dynamically, thus preventing any page from having a fixed location that could be linked to? This way, pages would be created each time, based on what the user clicks on the first set of pages.

    Don't get a patent lawyer just because the price is low! If you are doing hi-tech work, get someone who is both an engineer and a lawyer.

    M4 works better than M3 did ... no crashes yet ... but re-draw is really ugly when dragging the side scroll bar up or down
