It all depends on the position but when I am hiring - I am not looking for someone who lives for recompiling his linux kernel at night - I am looking for someone who can get the job done. With one exception - the best bosses I have ever worked for have been female. Its been my observation that they don't let biases get in the way of getting the job done. Men seem to do this all too frequently.

Why do gay people always have to blatantly advertise the fact that they are gay? Because most people are straight - very easy to not need to advertise that you are something when you are part of the majority. By being upfront on the topic - I manage to avoid unpleasant situations for both parties and I come off as honest which some companies actually appreciate (e.g. women asking me for dates - apparently straight financially secure men in their twenties who actually own pressed shirts are highly in demand)....

  3. Re:Exchange and Outlook on What Mailbox Format Do You Use And Why? · · Score: 1

Don't blame outlook or exchange - blame your companies infrastracture. Outlook uses whatever name resolution you have configured on your machine and it will use DNS if it is available. Try adding your Exchange server to your local hosts file. And stop using .pst files... Like anything - if properly managed and maintained - exchange/outlook is as rock solid as anything else out there is.

Agreed - haven't had a standard analog line in my home in 6 or 7 years - use a cell phone exclusivly. Ended up being cheaper and haven't had a crank call or salesman calling in all that time. Although the local Pizza Hut refuses to deliver a pizza to me because the system doesn't recognize my cell phone number. That's alright - much better pizza places around that will.
