  1. Female Developers on Is Gaming Too Much Skin, Not Enough Good Clean Fun? · · Score: 1

How are females going to want to get involved in the gaming industry when there are events like E3? There are some females that are into that subculture (I used to be one), but they aren't going to go out and make female-geared games. If you want to get females in there, then start acting like it.

    1. Look beyond your mind and realize that there are benefits to people who think differently.
    2. Clean up your conversation. I know many females who left Computer Science because they couldn't stand how the males talked.
    3. Volunteer helping Junior High & Elementary School girls get into programming (this is the age where it's most influential).
    4. Don't be afraid to make friends (and nothing more) with females in computing.
    5. Try to think of some original games (ooh boy, shoot-em-up number 2032, or RPG number 6983).

Bottom line, the number of females enrolled in Computer Science has dropped by almost half in the last decade (at the greatest boom). What are you doing to change the stereotype?

I'd like to say that I don't know everything, and I don't intend on ever thinking I do. Which then means that I don't have all the answers. I can only give you my resoning as I understand it.

Good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell, right?

No. It is not about good and bad people, there is no such thing. All humans are sinners. Heaven according to Christianity is for those that believe in Jesus Christ as their savior (the one who can wash away their sins) and God as the only true God. In different terms it means that I believe Jesus allowed me to be without sin because he died for me, and because my sin was removed, I can be with God.

Do YOU believe that God knows the result of actions of free will, despite the fact that he is not controlling the person during that time of freedom?

Yes, he sees everything as a line of time, we see only what we are alive for, and how things affect us. He knew that his Son was going to die, but he allowed it so that we can live. He knows we are going to make mistakes, but he allows us to have a free will because he wants us to believe in Him because we know it's the Truth, not because we were forced into believing it.

When something inspires me to wonder "is there a god-like influence in the universe" then I will examine religion.

Kinda off topic here, but I wanted to clarify something here. I have always been adverse to "religion" because of all the stigma that comes with that. What I believe for me isn't a religion. You may see it as one, but I call it a faith and belief. That is vastly different than a religion with it's ritualistic activities. I have a personal relationship with God...and I think most religions are void of that. But that is my opinion, and may not be that of other Christians.

Indeed, non-interfering Christians don't bother me a bit.

Why have the Christians been hit so hard with animocity of solicitation? I see far more solicitators that are trying to take something from you. Christians at least are trying to give you something.

Oh please... like I need a lesson in critical thinking. I was just trying to offer a word of encouragement, because I and many people I know have fallen into this more than once.

I have learned patience, love, and peace through introspection, examples, and possibly other mundane means. I am not deprived of feeling.

Nor is any one else that doesn't believe, I'm just saying that you can feel these emotions when you least expected it. I am a born-again Christian since January. Some of the worst things in my life have happened this summer, but I am happier than I have ever been. Why? Because every time I had a problem, I went to the Lord and he brought peace of mind. It's an amazing feeling. That feeling is what all Christians try to share with the world.

Hope this cleared a few things up. Just a few cents...or maybe more.

If He "knows how each of us will react" then what is the point of testing us?

We are tested because that is how we learn. How many times have you learned from something you did right? Not many. How many times have you learned when you did something wrong? Most of the time. I'd rather make a lot of mistakes then go around thinking I'm perfect. I like being tested, it shows me what I believe is real, it shows me all of the great things in my life. I have learned patience, love, and peace all through God.

I mostly ignore it, like I dismiss the other religions that I could also try. For a true outsider, Christianity does not seem particularly attractive; there just isn't a good starting point.

If you are truely seeking the Truth you will examine all evidence. That is SCIENCE. If you want a good starting point, just ask a Christian why they believe, and then a Buddist, a Mormon, whomever you can find to do your "research". I encourage you not to make your judgements just because you don't feel right, or there are people pressuring you to think differently. If you truely feel strongly about what you believe then Christians wouldn't bother you a bit.

Why are Christians so convinced that anyone who is genuinely interested won't be able to find their church? They're not that hard to find, people! Don't come knocking on my door, don't harass me as I walk between classes, I'm not interested! The fact that I'm in my home or walking to my next class rather than standing in your church ought to be a clue!

Have you ever gone to a class that you don't know anything about and the material is far beyond what you know? Didn't you wish that there was someone there that could tutor you, or help you 1 on 1? What about someone that could introduce you to the subject before you got to class? That is what Christians try to do. Plus, for a long time I didn't even go to church. Was I still a Christian, you betcha! Why didn't I go? Because I was scared, because I wanted to make sure that the church I went to practiced exactly what I practiced. Some of my favorite Christians didn't even go to church. It's just another method to get to God, it is NOT the only means. If there are any Christians who tell you that, then they need to go back and read the bible again, because that is not what God has taught. I personally came to the Lord through people in my life. Those people showed me their beliefs, and I listened, just as I listened to every one else. I found Christianity to be the Truth. It's kinda like knowing a place that you can get a CDRW drive really cheap at, but never telling your friends. Why would you want to withold such great news? I still am open to listening to whatever belief anyone has, but they need to be firm in it, including Christians. What good is a belief if you only believe it when others don't question it?

According to the Bible, all men are sinners, and that means the Christians as well. Most people I know that are Christians (including myself) believe that they are no better than other people. God gave all people an opportunity to choose. Those choices include committing sin. I admit that I am not flawless, but every time I have trusted in God I have been happier. And every time I have committed a sin, and realized I was wrong, the Lord has been there with open arms. He is there for me even when I don't realize my sins. That is what it's about, unfailing love. Most of my life I have spent not believing in anything, and I looked into everything (including Paganism, Atheism, Budddism, Mormanism, etc.) until I found the Truth. I believe in God because there was something missing in my life that only he could fill, and I know I am no better than anyone else. I just know for myself what is true, and like everything else, I try to show others it because I've been through a lot. I don't show others what I believe because I want to condem them, but because I want them to be as happy as I am.

That's why I love geeks, they THINK for themselves. But just as they don't conform to what the masses say, I have found many unwilling to stick up for what they believe when confronted by another geek. I think seeking the Truth is important for everyone. This statement not only applies to Apple, but the Open Source movement as well. People come in with their moral judgements on the population just like most religions do, and everyone is trying to find out who is right. There are people on all sides that think they are right, but there is only one truth. The truth as you see it.

Is Open Source for the masses? You might say yes, but then I might say no. We both have our reasons for supporting either cause. Just because something isn't physically tangible doesn't mean that I can't say it's mine. And if I say it's mine, then I should be able to choose who I let play with it.

If I make a painting or a sculpture, I might let my friends look at it, but maybe not my younger cousin with the greesy fingers. I may not also want a person who I might believe will steal it and call it their own -- or worse yet, copy it and call it mine (it will never look the same).

Value judgements on what's right and what's wrong are best left for the masses to deside, we were given the ability to choose since we came upon this earth.

Well, I can go to a museum and see a painting, that's public. But do I go and steal the painting, no. If I like it that much, I'll paint something that was inspired by it. So, I guess that graphical design doesn't follow the same rules as printed design because they are two different mediums?
