    No.

    There was not a choice of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki and doing nothing.

    There was a choice of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki ending the war or an invasion ending the war.

    Nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the correct and humane decision.

    Ending the war before an invasion of the main islands saved millions of civilian lives.

    If you were one of the millions who would have killed themselves or been killed during the invasion, you wouldn't be debating the finer points of war with me right now, would you?

    How is that a problem? The use of nuclear weapons ended the war and saved the tens of millions of lives that would have been lost in a ground invasion of the major Japanese islands.

    Never underestimate the suicidal tendencies of someone who is part of an apocalyptic death cult like fundamentalist Islam or fundamentalist Christianity.

    You don't understand.

    There are a fixed number of people who need a drug for their health problems.

    Giving a drug to someone who does not need it is malpractice.

    Advertising drugs does not really increase your legally and ethically available customer base.

    The answer to leaks like this is not to punish the leakers. But for there to be a branch of the government that is tasked with ferreting out the corruption and misuse of power that creates the ethical compulsion to expose malfeasance within the government. Bring the criminals being protected by secrecy to justice and you no longer have a compelling reason to publicly expose those secrets. Provide REAL transparency and accountability, not the bullshit tokens and false claims that got Obama into office.

    I seem to recall a suggestion that releasing evidence of government malfeasance in Russia isn't as effective as it is in the west because everyone assumes the government is a bit shady, but they think it is a bit shady in their interests.

    You would be wrong. The entire video does not show the crime, it shows the context for the crime that takes place in one specific part of the video.

    When the van pulls onto the scene in the video, you can hear the gunner begging for permission to open fire. And then lying to his CO over the radio, claiming that the people were collecting guns and bodies, when they were very very clearly only retrieving the 1 wounded survivor. Wither or not there was some mistaken identity earlier is debatable. but that specific instance with the van? That is most definitely a crime.

    How exactly is Assange "throwing in with people like Putin and Chavez"? I have literally seen no indication he is, and releasing information damaging to Syria is explicitly taking a stand against something that Putin is supporting.

    put item up for auction, get a bid on it.
    roll back the system clock (this works on windows btw).
    cancel the auction, get your item back plus the bid.
    The bidding user may or may not have also gotten their gold back.

    You can't just execute every bothersome politician. And it wouldn't do much good any way.

    Execution without trial is not justice. Depriving life is depriving liberty and should be reserved only as punishment for equal or greater disregard for the liberty of life.

    Killing a figurehead often strengthens the resolve of those who support them. There are an uncountable number of people waiting in the wings who want to oppress. It won't do much good.

    I do hold it sacred, and I don't feel like I have much place here any more.

    The reason I didn't mention equality is that it does not place the same restrictions on shooting politicians compared to the others.
