    I assume you're joking, but just in case:
    Honey is not the main thing we get from bees. The main thing we get from bees is pollination, and our food supply would suffer significantly if they were wiped out.

    With 6 billions humans and counting, there has never been a great surplus of humans to cover any possible genetic advantage. So don't worry about wiping out a small contingent of murderers and rapists, the odds of eliminating any desirable trait are vanishingly small.

    Well that seems like a bit of a stretch. Admittedly, the person I replied to didn't specify that it should be information posted by someone else, though that is pretty central to the whole discussion. In the Joe Lipari case, he actually did post the information himself.

    With 500 million facebook accounts and counting, I doubt there is more than 1 in 1000 people with no doppelganger. So I guess this is something pretty much no one needs to worry about then.

    That would be an edit control under the sway of your operating system and browser, not slashdot. So look into a local problem. I'd probably restart my browser, and if that didn't fix anything, reboot my computer to see if it was some odd transient error.

    Yeah, the challenge with that would be to differentiate the times when those efforts actually turn up legitimate witches, which unfortunately happens all too often.

    Exactly ... with the religious right, we're not exactly dealing with the most rational people in the world. They're leading the most extremely subjective lives imaginable. And they are close to half the people in the US. It's very scary.

    That's not that bad. You're pretty much demanding that they figure out, every year, exactly how much your worth has grown. Almost no company has the resources to do that for every employee. It would be ridiculously expensive and a waste of resources. Why shouldn't the burden be on you to make a case that your compensation level has gotten out of sync? And having made your case (successfully), and gotten adjustment, why should you be unhappy?

    If they get the standard 1-year raise pattern instead, I'd expect 75% rather than 69%, so maybe this is a good industry to be in?
    (Half of employees wouldn't have had their 1-year review within 6 months, and half would not have deserved a raise). There's been no COLI so there's no reason to expect COLA.

    I think you'll find that the pro-life and pro-death-penalty people usually rationalize it on the basis of innocence. You can't kill innocent people like babies. But murderers, rapists, and (worse) muslims? Go to town.

    Always be suspicious of the reporting. Always. It's all done by partial observers. All of it.

    Abortion for non-life of the mother issues like rape and incest is clearly equivalent to murder, if you believe a fetus is a human being. At least in life-of-the-mother you are trading one life against another, not just taking a life.
