I guess I'm sort of burned out with the "I'm an expert" stuff. I think that this account is pretty much used up really. It's taken longer than I thought but it seems that most people have either caught on or are simply bored with Bob's nonsense. I was going to try to at least look legit and shoot for the "America is superior" type troll but it's just to obvious I suppose, even though a month ago I had a few good ones.
I think it might be time to retire Bob unless I can come up with some new nonsense that amuses me. Until then Bob is pretty much up in the air.

Have you ever seen a new user sit in front of a Windows box? I can state without fear of being succesfully contradicted that Windows is not consistant, easy, or intuitive. That's a myth which is propagated by Microsoft and long time Windows users. The truth of the matter is that Windows is easy and intuitive if you are used to using it. I drive a car with a manual transmission and I think it's very easy to do, in fact I don't even have to think about it, I just do it. Buuuuut, take someone who has never driven anything but an automatic and watch them give it a try.
Since about 90% of the people who use a PC use Windows it makes perfect sense that it seems "easy" or "user friendly" It's all a matter of what you know. The truth is that no OS is easy for a first time computer user, and quite frankly it's a computer, not a toaster, maybe it shouldn't be easy. Why do we want to take an extremely powerful, amazingly sophisticated piece of machinery and dumb it down.
Bingo. I rememeber reading a story about my great grandpappy Bill Abooey telling the Jews the same thing during the big one WWWII. They were complainging that the Nazi's were forcing there ways on them against their will and they wanted to know what to do about it. Well, gramps, always the open minded and forward thinking person like yourself, said, "Look, why do you want to rock the boat, after all the Nazi's have your best interest at heart and they are just using the best tool for the job after all. Now just you quit your silly complaining and just run along now and blindly do what "The Man" tells you to do.
This can't be good. For the love of Christ, they should have contacted me. Think about what this does for the image of Linux for all those people how are new to it, or all the corporate people who are looking into it. Here is the cast of characters:
Richard Stallman - In a word....scary. No really, I mean scary. Sure the guy can hack out some great code, Ilove emacs and all, but this guy is not who you want leading the revolution. He looks like Charles Manson for Gods sake, a big fat opinionated, smelly, unable to compromise Charles Manson.
Linus Torvalds - Okay, we have a winner here, he's bright, charming and witty, and also very personable. No problems here. Maybe a little too geeky though, maybe he should try wearing some more fasoinable clothes, get some Nautica and Perry Ellis stuff on him... that would spruce him up a bit.
Eric Raymond - Uh oh... Okay, he's smart and personable, but... for Gods sake man, fix those theeth. Loose some weight, and can the gun nut crap. Tell me that gun nuts don't strike fear into the hearts of most sane middle americans. This guy is a little too enit-establishment... and what's up with that off center eyeball.
Bruce Perens - Okay, even though I can never get electric fence to work right, I suspect it's user error... heck, I guess I don't know anyting about Bruce so he must be okay.
Next time guys, put me in your stupid film and I'll turn this revolution thing around for you.

AP news 2001 - A Coke executive states that water as a beverage is doomed, expecting most water companies to be out of business by the end of the year
"We think that most people don't see the value of free beverages." states Less Cluefull, senior Coke executive. "We have seen that water just doesn't quench the thirst of employees who are working in large enterprise operations. Most people who have tried it end up coming back to coke. It's the real thing ya know"
Coke, a world leader in the beverage business has seen it's marketshare drop with the popularity of water in recent years. Less went on to say "Most of our focus has been on quenching the thirst of people who surf the internet, they have very special, high end needs to keep them productive, Coke meets those needs. Besides, they like to be able to call us for support if they have trouble opening a can up. You can't do that with water ya know"

I couldn't disagree more. In fact I'm getting ready to debut my new book which is going to rock the programming world. This new methodology is known as BP, or booy-programming. Learn it now because it will be a standard at your school in short order. Some of the new mothods I have developed for building zero fault tolerance software are:
Software must compile with no errors before shipping.
All code that causes and error should be fixed before trying to compile again
A compiler must be used to compile the code
Any code which generates incorrect results must be fixed before shipping
All new code introduced into a project must meed these tough compiling guidlines before it's allowed into a shipping product.
Yes, these may seem radical to you but remember, all new methods seem this way at the start. Trust me, use my methods and you will make great code
1) Do you ever plan on moving away from the slow and resource intensive method of VMS style paging for memory address resolution
2) Are there plans to rewrite the TCP/IP stack to be multi threaded
3) Will BSD ever migrate away from UFS to a more modern file system?
4) With serious POSIX compatablity issues are there plans to use code from POSIX compliant OS's to become more commercially attractive to major corporations
I think I disagree here. I have been a leading tier-one freelance head technical lead for many cutting edge technologies so I have some insight here. For instance, I helped to develop the CueCat, the Sony Betamax, the Yugo, MS Bob and numerous other blue ribbon products. My gut feeling here is that due to the inherant nature of the sound quality of a tri-polyglophin (this is the resident building block which makes up a D-VHS) is an order of magnitude better that that of DVD's. In fact I've seen test which show that even if you subject it to a a degredation of y = f(x)*z^2 you will not hear any appreciable sound loss until you x and z begin to converge along a parabolic apex. You really have to hear it to belive it.
Hello Going for -100, if it's any consolation to you I maxed out at around -125 but now it seems that the code has been altered to stop me from gaining more negative karma. And to make matters worse some confused, well meaning moderator has modded me up a few times so that I'm now at -121. I fear if I keep posting I am in danger of slipping over -100. Trolls like content too. We are techies just like some of you quality posters. In fact most of us have a normal +1 account. I have a few of them. In other words, it's a slam dunk troll post. There is nothing new or interesting or thought provoking about it. You might as well have a story asking "Do you think the 2.4 kernel will be better than Windows 2000?" or how about "Hey everybody, it's almost the year 2001, so as we head into the new millenium what's better vi or emacs?"
There has to be something new and interesting to spark the mind but we are blasted with trolls like "Is KDE going to surpass Gnome?" or "Whistler beta causes cancer in all Linux users".... are you getting my point? The actual stories are trolls. Hmmmm... well if you don't understand by now maybe you don't know what a troll is... it seems that most moderators can't tell the difference between a troll and flambait... but alas, I must move on.
I hope I have enlightened you Mr. Quintus, and bababooey to you.
Lets cut the crap and get to the heart of it. Statistics will prove MS wrong once again here. For example all it takes is a little research to find out that the.net CLR is actually written in C++ which right out of the gate gives you slower performance by an order of
(a/b) * a.(1/b) due to the dynamic late binding of C++. Okay, that's a fact, the proof can be
on Professor Kyzinsk's web page.
Second we all know that in java you reference everything by a reference, unless you are working with primitives, which only a rookie does because they are about 50% slower than a pointer. With the.NET stuff you are dealing with a VC constructor that is already overloaded on every instruction.
That's right, that makes.NET very flexible because you can generate a polymorphic polymorphic constructor on a standard method. Yep, that lets you do nice things like super(super(super))). But do you want to talk slow???? It's been pretty well
documented that Java will always be faster than.NET. Not to mention that.NET has no support for RMI. Heh.. can you say strike three you're out.
For you non-believers here is a snippet of the code from.NET....heh..pure crap.
Thank you for your concern and taking the time to express your feelings and thoughts about me. Words cannot express how much you have touched me, you have brought me to the point where I feel that I really need to take some time off and do some deep introspective thinking. Thank you again.
I would like to point out just a few places where you are in error though, maybe that will help you to better understand my plight, and my mission here at slashdot.
1) I never posted anything yesterday that said it was my final post, in fact my account was disabled yesterday due to some misunderstanding with the slashdot administrators.
2) I have never posted under another nick, if someone posted as me then they were quite frankly an imposter. I'm hurt that you would not give me the benefit of the doubt.
3) I have never misrepresented myself in any posts nor have I ever tried to. I sincerely apologize if you feel that way.
4)The webiste links were an honost mistake, I thought they were updated but they were not. In fact you can go to this page now to see an open apology to the slashdot community for my behaviour
5) I have greatly misunderstood what this posting at slashdot is all about, you see I am from Balzania and I am just now learnign about the usa and weblogs and culture, yes I have made many mistakes but they were all honest mistakes. I will try to continue to learn so I don't offend you any more.
6) I hope this clears things up Mr. OS Sloth, I am going troll free and I look foward to some great discussions!!!!!!
I've given up trolling for good BTW. Anyways, I think that Debian rocks hard and I hope they stick to their guns, I respect them for beeing the one true free release. And yes, I'm talking about Gnu/Linux, I have traded emails with RMS (for real, he's actually very pleasant in email, try it sometime) and RMS has swayed me to believe we should call it Gnu/Linux.
I wrote a little perl-to-PHP conversion utility that I would love to see in the next Debian release include it but not any of the commercial releases. In fact I am going to set up the download so it checks the version of Debian you are using before allowing you to download or install it. Dirty pool, maybe, but when I told RMS I was going to do it he gave me his blessing ( in so many words anyways )
I put the emails from RMS on my (now troll free)
website if anyone is interested.
This is interesting stuff. I lived in the Valley while I was attending grad school and I lived on the same block as the CEO of ZapMe.
We found that we were both heavy into technology and we used to go to dinner together quite frequently. In fact if you are ever in the Valley you should stop in at
La Guizina that was our favorite place to eat. (The flambou is excellent)
I always felt like royalty back then because it was nothing for a lot of uber-powerful people to stop by our table and say hello. I met people like Larry Ellison, Steve Case, Scott McNealy and Linus himself. Linus was really cool, we had a lengthy discussion about the use of function pointers to let C simulate C++ functionality. Anyways, I know it's considered passé to drop names but all these guys were really cool. I would wait to hear more info before beliving that the guys at Zapme did anything wrong.
I have been invloved in studies done at Yale University which show that people who spend more than 20 hours a week online comit less crimes and are more likely to be honest decent human beings. We spent three years collecting data and the results totally contradict all the stuff the media says about the net breeding hate and violence. The thing that surprised me the most is that the IQ's of people who spend time on the net is no higher than those that don't. We are not smarter, just different.
Yale is going to rock the world when we release the full study results next year.
As a lead developer for the manufacturer of a major video card I can tell you that they sweep a lot under the rug. For instance I had devised a new hardware enabled double buffering anti-flicker method that would revolutionize the industry. But when the CEO's caught wind of it they forced me not to use it because they want to keep selling the bad hardware to make more money. The good news is I can use it in 2 years after my NDA runs out. If you think your card is smoking now, just wait. My new methods use a simple linear vector transgression that once you see it you will kick yourself, it is so simple. All I can say is "think f(x) = x*x. That's it, any more and I could get in trouble. Well, think parabolic polygon too, but that's it.
The real problem lies within the addressing scheme that the C language uses. As we all know MySQL is written in C, which is the proper language. However C doesn't really have arrat's they are laid out in a linear manner in the heap of your program. So we need to be able to do pointer arithmaic when we access a row in the database. Yes, this is ultra fast, but the dangers are great. Say for example I have a mutex on J in the following schema: data [j][k], then it is vital for me to lock that row with a simple ((j * data) * k * sizeof(data)). Pretty simple no, but the problem is that you cannot lock a pointer. I think they will have to re-write MySQL in java to fix the problem.

Hey,
I've given up trolling for good BTW.
I put the emails from RMS on my (now troll free) website if anyone is interested.
Cheers
This is interesting stuff. I lived in the Valley while I was attending grad school and I lived on the same block as the CEO of ZapMe. We found that we were both heavy into technology and we used to go to dinner together quite frequently. In fact if you are ever in the Valley you should stop in at La Guizina
that was our favorite place to eat.
Bababooey to you all !
