I don't think they have a business plan. I mean Shawn Fanning coded soemthing he thought would be useful and then many others found that it was useful. So, some venture capitalists ran into it, saw the potential for an internet company and software application that would have a large market share and sunk a few million into it to see if it would go anywhere.
The question in my mind is:
Do the songs that are being shared most frequently over the internet so freely have any value in the first place? Consumers will only be willing to pay for something that they see as having value.That's why Metallica's songs are so heavily traded because Metallica's songs have 0 actual value.
So, why are the politicians that our tax money pay for being used as pawns to protect music that
has been recognized as having no real value other than the value chosen by the RIAA.
Soon people will begin to see how worthless our government is in protecting our rights against the pirate's of our Republic's supposedly democratic process: The MPAA and the RIAA.
Wholesale disobediance of the law will take place
and it will be found that the majority of laws propped up by our Government and the Corporations that have corrupted it are meaningless. In other words, the will of the people can not be thwarted.
Most of the codes and laws of our nation and many of the worlds nations are meaningless In conclusion it is my belief that a large amount of people with the power of technology in the hands can easily ignore a corrupt government.

I hope the essay at below my comments clarifies the fact that this goes beyond "leftist",'rightist' arguments but cuts to the core of our rights as US citizens.
Liberty is not a leftist ideal and besides, I as my forefathers did, WILL fight for my rights.
In some cases corporations have done good but that does not mean that we should allow them the right to take away our ability to share information freely.

All Corprations are chartered by the law therefore
all Corporations can have their charters removed,
(including the MPAA.
As far as I am concerned - once a corporation violates the freedoms our foreathers paid for with blood (at least in the USA)it is time to question whether or not entities like the MPAA should have the right to exist at all.
