  1. Looks like hell froze over on Microsoft Withdraws Linux NTFS Threats · · Score: 1

M$ finally got enough flak from the press and the public that they had to do something to not look like the bad guys. M$ will just start trying to find another, more covert way to exercise some market muscle until this group, like others before them, is assimilated.

In other news, Congress, at the behest of the RIAA, Metallica, Dr. Dre, and MPAA, and now Sega, has imposed a $150 billion dollar tax on every newborn to cover licensing fees for the cost of everytime a child says the name of a copyrighted item...

  3. What next? on George Lucas Goes After Fan Sites · · Score: 1

What is next? An automatic $50 billion tax at birth to cover the license fee of every possible copyrighted name we might speak for the duration of our lives? George Lucas continually alienates his fans. Just a short while ago, he tried to induce all the StarWars fanfic authors to get homepages at starwars.com. Sounds good, right? Well, you can bet that Mr. Lucas had an ulterior motive. Anything put on a starwars.com page would be automatically copyrighted and owned by him. So, if a fanfic author spent months crafting a really great story, Lucas could use it and not even have to acknowledge that he did not write it himself. This move irked a lot of people, myself included. We write fanfics for fun; not fame or fortune. And all we ask is to be sited for the particulars we write. At least Square is kind enough to allow my partner and myself to write and publish our works online for free without free of reprisial. Heck; Square loves Bleys and I...there is not a day that goes by that I don't get pleasant email about my fanfics. Lucas has gone too far. I'm not planning on seeing his next movie, and I would hope to God that others would boycott it as well. The money grubbers in America really need to take stock. They are continually alienating and irritating the very fan base that gives them their money, power, and fame. Metallica would be nothing without its fans, and Star Wars would be just another late 70s early 80s series of Grade B movies without its fans. How easily Metallica and Lucas forget the very people that put them where they are today. I know that I feel very cheated and very used. Any others? How dare these pitiful, untalented, greedy, insolent fools think that they can continually abuse us, their fans, their supporters, and expect that we will come back like dogs to lick their boots and eat the rotting scraps from their tables! Mail this with a check for a few billion dollars and, if you're lucky, you *might* get heard... What we need is a good media catcher; like a march or an act of God... Say your prayers; and MOVE OUT OF THE US. Phoenix (Japan; here I come)

  5. Re:They will firewall it at my PC? on Sony VP On Stopping Napster · · Score: 1

Want to lay odds others at Sony are saying the exact same thing behind Heckler's back? Probably pretty good. If Square had a good console to offer, Sony would be SOL in the gaming dept...hell; Sony'll be SOL if Square and Nintendo get back together with NinCD. Either which way you go about it; most of Sony's products suck. (CD players that eat batteries like my nephews eat dessert, stereos that really never work, VCRS that won't quit flashing "12:00" even if you get a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon to work on it. And PlayStations are so damned fragile. If you BREATHE on it wrong...KAPUT!) Hell; add Sony to the list of companies I ain't investing in or buying from...You get enough people together and guys like Heckler get flushed. Plus; I really hate it when people ruin great quotes. Really pisses me off. Phoenix
