There's the new Retire-to feature recently implemented. I think you need to email one of the distributed.net people to get blocks from an old email address retired to a current email. All the gory details are somewhere in the distributed net pages. Have a look in the plans page they have.
my HP28S still rules over all the calculators i've ever worked with (including my brother's 48G) After 10+ years of calculating and falling out of my backpack and pockets, it's still kicking even though the battery cover is tenuously held on by tape. I've been tempted to upgrade to a 48GX but I prefer the clamshell design of my 28S. I'll keep using it until it dies at which point i'll be screwed...
Smoke detectors generally contain small amounts of Am-241. Thorium is easily obtainable from lantern mantles that you put into Coleman lanterns, which you can buy from any camping store.
Definitely not cheap. The site quoted $300K for the total cost of the car. $90K for just the computer equipment. I guess the people who can afford the car don't need to worry about their online costs.
My preference is for the Cirque keyboards (http://www.cirque.com). They make the funky little touch pads to replace mice. Their older Wave Keyboard 2 is nice and comfy, and has an integrated touch pad. it has the keyboard feet below the front of the keyboard letting you position your hands and wrists nice and flat. nice big platform to rest your wrists on too.

it seems like a lot of FUD. a table with benchmark comparisons. the last table especially comparing linux and NT seems full of it. more bash bait.
