Earthling is doing nothing new for them. All the small isp's they have gobbled up had a good customer base. They are screwing them over too.
The service level has dropped to nothing while the cost of holding an account is going up. The bigest piss off is they have screwed over everyone
who has had a website hosted by one of the merged isp's. What they consider "free" was something I was paying for. 21.95 amount for a dialup is steep around here add 19.95 more for another dialup account for my 82 year old mom's use and the are making some money. If I didn't need to maintain email accounts with my original email address I would be totally done with them. I have RoadRunner cable now and it's worth every dime. My expectations from a cable company are nill and so far they have lived up to them, I have had NO probems. Earthlink sucked up my original isp who set a high level on customer service and replaced it with downsized horse crap..
49.95 a month is cheap for good bandwidth. But if you promise 39.95 and then jack up the rates you are fscked IF you promised something else entirely. About what can be expected from a bunch of Hubbardites.

Ddos is repression.. If the anger of the Ddos attackers keep me from expressing my ideas or reading the ideas of others they are repressive.
Ddos is a theft, you are stealing bandwidth I paid for. Ddos attacks keep network engineers busy on resolving them instead of improving thruput and maintainig systems I paid to use.

RAMBUS is an example you why we need LESS lawyers and more actuall inventors. Their "tax" on much of the memory sold is based on prior art and information they gained by using information supplied by ACTUAL manufacturing enterprises to gain patents they have no rights too.

The majority of legal profession does not understand the difference between what is moral and right and what is legal. Because of this inovation and invention is stunted and killed off.
We need to get the rope out and drape a few of these inovation killing parasites on telephone poles and fax their butt's back to their mommies. The world would be a better place.
I can't understand why this can't be fixed. I have been a computer Luser since CPM was a dominat OS.
Now it's Linux I use. I am not a Hacker or one these script kiddie/crackers. When I couldn't understand how to secure my systems when I spent the time and money to understand it and secure them as best as I could, If your connection is 24/7 it had better be secure or someone will own you. That is just human nature.
I use undernet and am a Channel OP, It is from exchanging information with like minds from all over the world I learned about securing my systems and using Linux to get what I want and need done.
You can say IRC is dead all you want. Some still find it useful. It is worth fixing. One of the problems maybe that in needs to generate the income to sustain it's self. I pay for bandwidth and drive space now. How come IRC can't operate on a similar model? I would gladly pay to have W and X back. Then we wouldn't have to camp on our IRC channel 24/7 to maintain control of ops. Efnet was too anal. The bs with no tilde in front your ident was lame. It is getting harder to get on UnderNet without one too now. UnderNet is better in some respects and not in others. I'll gladly pay to have access if that is what it is going to take to
resolve these issues.
As I posted in jest on one of the sites I help with. We need a neck streching for this snot sucking larpo. I'll provide the rope, sharp things and, firearms to run him to ground. Then we will hang him from a telegraph pole and wire his ass back home.
