Morpheus works now. Who cares if there are linux napster clients, napster servers block them out so it's pretty irrelevent.
Despite what you are saying, it does work and it works great. Maybe most people don't edit thier files like you do, or maybe the program is smart enough to ignore the filename when doing compares, but last couple searches have turned up at least 3-7 copies of identicle files. I don't really care how it works, it just works.
No. Other people are doing stupid, dangerous things. Speeding may be illegal, but it's neither stupid nor dangerous in most situations. Driving the speed limit on i495 is much more likely to cause an accident than driving with the rest of the traffic at 70mph.
-Good search engine, actually tells you the bitrate on mp3s for example
-Download from multiple sources- not only makes things faster, but if one guy you are downloading a 600MB divx from loses his connection right before you finish, you can just get the last 5MB from someone else
-Yeah it's windows only so far, but wasn't the original napster? Give it some time I'm sure someone will come up with a linux client.
I agree totally. I'll stop speeding when people quit useing exits as 3rd lanes and then cutting back into the real lane. Or driving 10 under the limit in the left lane when the right lane is going faster. Or a million other things that cause more traffic and accidents than speeding ever does (cellphones).
File>Exit will close mozilla and make it unload from memory. File>Close, or closeing by useing the Icons will not.

If you close the browser window with the X in the upper-right corner, or with File>Close, or with double clicking the icon in the upper-left corner mozilla will remain in memory. If you close it with File>Exit, it will unload from memory. Although, honestly there isn't anything wrong with killing it from the task manager.
Or anyone who can guess the password. Considering how many windows machines I have seen setup with blank administrator passwords, anyone in the world can log in as an administrator. Plus, by default there is no account lockout, which makes brute force methods very effective.
I think you are far too generous when you say "In almost every situation the two 1800's would be faster than the four 400's". I would be willing to bet that in EVERY situation a single 1.333ghz athlon will outperform any quad pentium 2 system.
Re: 2, the short answer is no. Newer chips are just plain cheaper and faster, a single 1200mhz athlon cpu can be purchased for under $150. Even today a pentium 2 300mhz is going to run you at least $45. You can probable tell already that four pentium 2's are going to cost more than the single athlon, and they will definatly perform worse- the pentium 2's are limited by a pathetic 66mhz frontside bus, while the athlon is running at 266mhz DDR. This doesn't even take into account the cost of the motherboard- have you ever looked at the prices of quad cpu boards? Nearly all are $500+, even when dealing with three year old technology.
Hey, I know I was just repeating from the article. I thought that that was about the funniest thing in the whole article, and deserved to be seen by those who don't want to read through four pages of html. I didn't expect a 5 though:)
The cost of disseminating information may not technicly be free, but it sure is damn close. A usable webserver can be purchaced for under $1000. The OS is free. I read once that the cost in elecricity to run a computer 24/7 for a month is only a couple bucks, lets say $100/year. That leaves bandwidth- if I wanted to I could run a server off my dsl line which costs me $40/month, or $480/year. Assume you can use the server for at least two years without replaceing it, total costs looks like $2160 for two years. Assume 5 page views every minute (my dsl line could easily handle 10X this assuming relativly light pages)and we have 5,256,000 page views over the course of two years. Or in other words, 2,433 page views per $.01 Even if the hardware owner wanted 10000% ROI, each page view would still be well under a penny. This is virtually free.
If it's hereditary- yes. However, if you wreck your liver because of drinking that isn't hereditary, and you could get it replaced from your own clone. Also- even if you have a bad heart due to your genetic makeup, it's still probably better to have a 10year old bad heart than a 60 year old one.
Price/performance ratio. Tell me how you can put together a multicpu Ultrasparc box for under $1000. Or a single cpu power pc system without paying the appletax(tm). I'm not AMD loyal, they just happen to be the best as far as performance for price.
Attachments do not automatically open with outlook 97 or outlook 2000. What version do you use that automaticly opens attachments?

The "old napster" is now morpheus. Windows only, but so was the original napster. Much faster than gnutella.

I don't know what distro you are referring to, but the ones I have used refuse to allow blank root passwords or even dictionary based root passwords.
Or anyone who can guess the password. Considering how many windows machines I have seen setup with blank administrator passwords, anyone in the world can log in as an administrator. Plus, by default there is no account lockout, which makes brute force methods very effective.
Unlike linux it's very easy to setup windows 2000 with a blank Administrator password and there isn't even a warning given.
There is a flaw. Regardless of how many false passwords you give, you never get locked out.
Actually, windows 2000 shares your entire hard disk by default. Haven't you ever done a run \\boxname\c$?
Yes, however the $45 chips you see on pricewatch are the 66mhz kind. The 100mhz FSB pentium 2's are even more expensive.

If you really work near Reston how could ever eat at Chili's? Not to say Chili's is bad, but when the alternative is Rio Grande Cafe...

Look at your email address. Does it end in "aol.com"?
If so, you may be technologically impaired.
