  1. UGH!!! on Segfault and User Friendly threatened · · Score: 1

Did this come out because of that court ruling yesterday about the trademarks? Lord, that didnt take very long at all to propagate. The American Judicial system is in shambles. I wonder if I volunteer for the manned mission to mars if I could get a microwave connection to the net, and no worries about who wants to take my domain name.

  2. What's the deal with libc6? on Pre-Beta Slackware 4.0 · · Score: 2

I have no idea why people would shy away from a release based soley on the libraries. I have Slackware 3.4 and wanted to install StarOffice. I didnt want to trust my machine to their libc6 upgrade, so I went ahead and did it myself. In about 45 mins or so, I had both 5 and 6 set up. There are some awesome pages on the web that helped along the way (I think I started from slackware.org :P ). The point is, don't let the libraries dictate your choice. If libc6 is the only reason your staying with RH (heaven forbid), trash it and try Slackware. Its easier to keep track of where everything is installed, the initialize scripts make sense, its easy to tweak until you have it set up perfectly for yourself.

  3. Easiest to install? on Is Red Hat the Next Microsoft? · · Score: 2

I certainly don't think that Red Hat is the easiest to install. I tried it with version 5.0. It took me longer than any other distribution I tried, and still couldn't get it running properly. Then I went back to Slackware and installed it in about 20 mins. I think that Red Hat has the best marketing team (kinda like MicroSoft) and is using that to make it look like the easiest. The best software isn't the ones that say they are the best, its the software that users who have tried others come back to.

  4. intel sucks on Intel Fights Overclockers · · Score: 1

intel sucks, but companies shouldnt sell overclocked computers. unless they charge the customers for a slower machine. i guess in this case intel is actually doing something smart.
