Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but it seems to me that "fuckgeneralmotors" is a statement of opinion, and someone at fuckgeneralmotors.com would not confuse it with the real GM. Routing it to Ford I'd say is a bastard thing to do, but this is free speech, IMHO.
Companies are on a kick of saying that "Hey! That domain has our company name in it, so it's OURS!" Well, no. No it isn't. It's speech about your company.
Remember that DVD-Video is MPEG2, and DV is not. (DV is more closely related to a series of JPEG frames)
Hm, I thought that MPEG stood for "Motion JPEG" and JPEG stood for "Joint Photographic Experts Group." This sounds like MPEGs and JPEGs are quite similar. Could someone wise clarify this or tell where da info is?
Something constantly complained about on Slashdot actually got its just desserts! Perhaps MS will meet its end and the RIAA will dissolve into puffs of anti-trust legislation... Dream on, you crazy, idealistic nerds...
Well, unless a nuclear plant explodes, which granted is highly unlikely in most countries. I personally dismiss risk-analysis research which shows that coal plants release more radioactivity on average than a normal nuclear plant, because one nuclear accident is all it takes.
The thing is, as they're trying to point out here, a single accident, not very-low exposure from, say, coal, can cause lasting changes in the gene pool.
It sounds like just a voting system on websites. I read the article, but I don't get where the neural net part comes in. Also, does it apply to whole domains or subdomains, directories?
This ought to settle the matter of copyright and IP here on /. once and for all...

Except in my locality broadband is a monopoly! I CAN'T choose someone else. Otherwise I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

It is a good thing that Starfleet Commander Rumsfeld will use those new oil-based lasers we've heard so much about to clean the place up!

Oh my God! For providing the best recorder stimuli, the best porn stars would have Parkinson's disease!
That's horrible!

On a related note, how does slashdot make money? I can't imagine banners and t-shirts are enough to satisfy big cheeses like CT and his motley crew.

I'd guarantee you that as usual, Apple Macintoshes would not be affected.

I think I am going to live my life by that axiom.

I suppose a built-in grammar-check is too much to hope for. Then again maybe CT's comma key is broken.

I am certain that's the first time this has happened.
