"bad idea... Turns out some people (4 for 4 in my family) prefer the sparseness of XFCE to any _complicated_ desktop"
I lol'd.
Please remember, making a case out of 4 guys is not representive, or I will have to tell you what my 1 of 1 (or more likely: around 4 of 4) family is preferring the most - you wouldn't like the outcome then;-)
In the end, it's worthless debating about. just use it or don't use it. make it better by supporting it or... pass along please.
You can have plenty of icons on your desktop, which by default even is (called "Folder View"). KDE in general is highly configurable, so it is basically up to you, whether you actually want it, or not.
Shame on Germany's Government and all the others to even think about demanding the Wi-Fi data. Whilst I believe, that "accidentally collecting Wi-Fi data while catpuring street-view images" is practically impossible, no one has the right to have the data.
very obviouse from -at least my- point of view: they _maybe_ wanna get rid of all those compatibility code and clean up their source base, letting the enduser still some sort of backwards compat with the VM-mode.
but wether MS is using this opportunity, I don't know.
ok, funny, and I can even agree, but sorry about the last one, this is a matter of choise, and I'm definitely not an emacs-user (but from the other side, and yet still happy;-)
however, the google equivalent is working just fine on konqueror/3.4.2, so I suppose this is not a matter of implementation (as KHTML/KJS does just fine).
yes, valve, please go ahead, and put it on github.com - I "smell" a big chain of forks/contributers already :)

Google, just rm -rf the data already!

well, try changing your userAgent;

if that .svn dir just scares you; have a look at svk [google might provide the URL] ;)
I read in the lists (some time ago), that they've had some odd problems using fsfs, and though are using bdb.
I might be wrong here in case I'm not up to date. But that's (been) the state as of reading the lists that day.
I want this screensaver as a linux daemon; so that I can install it on my servers!
any resources yet?
Please help me to get cheeped! However, I'd like to Atlantis, if it's been really found then :)
