  1. 24/7 in a closet on 24/7 Running PCs = Fire Risk? · · Score: 1

I have a system running 24/7 in a walk-in type of closet. It's not the most ventilated room in the apartment, but the system keeps pretty cool nevertheless. I have it plugged into a UPS to prevent the occasional thunderstorms from damaging or rebooting the system. It runs for months at a time with no problems, but the fear of a fire is still looming in the back of my head. The system being an old P133 I really couldn't care less if it dies, but that is not the case with the apartment. On the other hand I really need it to run 24/7. Anyone know of any fireproof cases?

I read the FAQ and it clearly states that Torvalds is a Finn, not a Swede. It does mention that his native tongue is swedish, but that does not make him a Swede. This seems to be an all too frequent mistake made by US residents, which is quite unfortunate.

As you seem Swedish I'm suprised that you aren't aware of the Swedish speaking minority in Finland, often called finlands-svenskar. They have nothing to do with Sweden as such, but speak a variation of swedish that is pretty similar to the one native Swedes speak. They do, however, usually speak finnish too.

I agree with most of the posts here on the fact that using LOC as a productivity measure is stupid and inefficient. But what I find even more stupid is generalizing the coding efficiency based on the code author's nationality. Does it truly matter which country produces the most LOC or even the most efficient code. Is not the goal the same for everyone anyway? It should be.

That comment about the Frenchman is very ignorant, and I would really like to see the poster put his money where his mouth is. I am willing to bet that there is a numerous amount of Frenchmen that would be able to do what the poster does. Who knows, maybe they would do it twice as well too.
