Hey dumb ass, before you were even born NextStep (MacOS X) had it's own directory authorization system that kicks ass over AD. You can keep your crappy os and feel good about your job because patching windows systems is a full time job! Better pray that corporate IT does not adopt linux/macos or you'll be back at the fast food restaurant looking for a job.
If not, then Apple made the right choice in moving to Intel. Besides, they can still use both processor architectures, so maybe they could put these in new Xserve's.
Umm, on my Mac (10.4.3) I can simulaneously unzip a 50 Mb file while ripping an audio CD w/iTunes and be we browsing and not skip a beat. Oh wait, that's right, Mac OS is based on Unix now...
Thus putting a little more pressure on the competetion. That is exactly what Wal*Mart is about, it's not about low prices for the consumer, it's about squeezing the competetion.
Is that not what all buisnesses try to accomplish, to beat their competition?
From the students in the MIS program at my college who usually chose this major because they could not handle the math and associated science classes required for a comp sci degree. Although to do most basic buisness programming I doubt you would need much higher math skills. I imagine that some of the rationale behind these classes is to weed out some of those who are not serious about pursing a comp sci degree. FWIW. I am a chem major...
They suck. I work at a University and have finally given up on Dell Laptops. Out of the 15 I have here, 13 of them had to be sent in for repairs. It's great that they have such a long warranty, but you will most likely need it. It may be difficult for you to do ant warranty repairs if you purchased the machine in the US and are trying to do it in the UK. Instead, find a retailer that carries IBM or Sony and take a look at them before you purchase.
A german company Rohloff, has been making an internally geared 14 speed transmission for bikes for few years now. The gearing range on it is equivalent to a standard Shimano 27 speed triple chainring system. The only problems with these things is maintenance issues and the cost. I beleive if you had any problems with the Rohloff system, it had to go back to Germany for repair, apparently these things are pretty complicated. The other drawback is price, I believ the Rohloff rear hub/transmission was alot heavier than a standard setup. On downhill/freeride bikes, it may not be an issue, but for cross county/trail bikes it is a real big issue. BTW, mountain bikes can be a very expensive hobby. My downhill bike alone costs ~$3500 US and my Cross Country bike close to that.
I knew Novell was in trouble years ago. Back when they had a monopoly on NOS's they were arrogant and treated their customers poorly. Heck if you had a question, they would not talk to you without a credit card! Look what they did to wordperfect, they nearly killed it also before selling it to corel for a huge loss.

They let me drive my car faster than the legal limit, and I received a ticket. Nowhere in the users manual did it warn me of that!

Where do you work that has 140K employees? That must be a hell of a helpdesk!
I believe the poster was referring to the processor architecture ie sparc vs x86 etc
If I have to explain it to you, I doubt would not understand.
