This appears to be necessary for agencies like the NSA to function properly, but there should be a better way.

Barriers mean nothing to the sufficiently determined individual (this isn't true, but acting as if it is will get you somewhere in life).

Oh, and fix that spacebar. Two spaces between sentence, one between words after a comma (I'm sure you already knew this, no offense intended). "A lot" should be two words. The ability to write English properly will help you significantly in life.

You miss the point here, which is that supply and demand is about exactly what it says: supply relative to demand (or vice versa). This doesn't even remotely guarantee that people are paid relative to their true value to society. Capitalism means we'll pay them as little as we can possibly get away with. An example of a discrepancy between value to society and money earned: teachers.

Another one about a hundred years later and probably one in between, and at least a couple this century.

Yes, you're correct that it would not work on matter from space. To elaborate a bit on what you said, it's because all organisms on earth have a constant ratio of C-14 to normal carbon in them which is maintained by breathing the atmosphere. After they die, they stop taking in new C-14, and the C-14 that they have in them decays changing the ratio. Since it's based the known ratio within the Earth's atmosphere, it wouldn't work on anything from space.

What all those XML-loving types don't seem to understand is that XML is just a glorified text file. You are right on the money in saying that a common config file format is what's needed, not "buzzword compliance" as you nicely put it.

The whole point of using XML would be to have a common config file format. It's on top of a text file, yes, so are most config files. It makes them much easier to edit and use. If you want to be technical, everything is just a glorified text file. It's nice when it's legible as such though.

With XML, the format is standard, which would make it easy for apps to interact with all sorts of different config files, but it's also very extensible, so it could easily be tailored to suit a program's individual needs.
