It may or may not limit your resolution, however the specs say it can display non-interlaced full motion video at full-screen or in a resizeable window from 16x16 up to 1600x1200, so you are covered. Furthermore, you don't even need to wire up the passthrough, you can just use the video outs to display to a TV if you so desire.
How does this hurt Sigma Designs or any company that releases DVDs? The software only allows you to *use* hardware which you have already purchased and to *view* movies which you either own or have rented. I would be surprised if Sigma Designs didn't pick up the driver at a later date and release it with their standard driver bundle disk. The only reason that they don't have a Linux driver is due to the cost to them to write and support it.
I hate to say it, but UDMA @ 7200RPM works great. I am a big fan of SCSI, but the price difference is too much right now. Also, make sure you have a working disk, scratch disk, and possibly even an audio scratch disk for your software. This will make a world of difference in performance. I would also recommend going with a dual processor system - Wintel if possible. If you plan on using After Effects, plan on as much memory as possible (I would recommend starting at 512 meg if you are serious.)
There are also some Linux compatable cards and software if you look at some of the old Slashdot posts.
Nashville is really starting to grow. We have DSL, Cable Modems, and relatively cheap ISDN (except they keep raising the prices). Its large enough to have several theaters, all night bars, and dance clubs, but small enough where traffic isn't *all* that bad. If you don't mind a 45 minute commute then you can live in the coutry with your sheep and cattle... err wrong fantasy. As soon as they legalize prostitution then it will be perfect! Who has time for relationships? The only down side is the type of jobs. Mostly boring internal corporate software design and intra/extra/internet jobs working with clueless morons that think they can design web pages.
If I'm not mistaken, 21-11-1999 is odd and it occurs in just two days, then after that will be 23-11-1999, 25-11-1999, and so on. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Now if you are talking about odd and prime then that might be another story...
From my limited sampling I have found that a high number of Anime fans are also into computers. My IS department is getting a group together from work to make the 10 hour trip to see this when it comes out in theaters!
Apple *almost* did this with the Newton, but it wasn't a full spin off from Apple and a few months later Jobs came in and screwed everything up reabsorbing the Newton division. Of course he then killed it because it wasn't his idea (over simplification)! I will never buy another Apple product as long as Steve Jobs is in charge. I hope he is kicking himself for not spinning off Newton and doing the whole IPO thing. The Newton is still a better PDA than any of the WinCE boxes I've seen, but the Pilot is a completely different philosophy.
This movie is way too good to pass up. I highly recomend seeing it in the theater before reading too many spoilers. Which if you are reading this, the movie has probably already been spoiled for you:(

Sure there is, make it illegal for American businesses and organizations to accept email from specified domains and addresses.
There is always a way. If not today, then tomorrow.
