Look into anti-collision techniques and determine if there are any that will be feasible on your budget. It's been months since I last looked into doing something like this, but then (around christmas) I couldn't determine a way of avoiding the problem of collisions cheaply.
I have to agree. My video card is a prophet. What more can I say?
I mean seriously both art and programming take skill, practice, experience, and a gift or talent of some sort. However, programming is a different thing altogether. Art is art (to anyone. be it good art, or bad art, it's still art.)
But code, on the other hand is only appreciated or even recognized by people who know what it is. I personally think that programming and design are TOTALLY different things. Programming is coding. Design is just about everything else (not just in games... in general applications as well... ie GUI design, graphic design, level design, character model design... etc etc... notice the word DESIGN is repetative) A coder is not a code designer. He/she's a coder. That's it. Or a programmer, hacker, genius, god... er... ahem... sorry...
Are you serious? Do you honestly think that programming is something that takes 20 years to learn? I mean, a few years maybe, but 20? If you're using the same knowledge that even existed 20 years ago, I don't think you're talking about the same kind of programming that the rest of us are.
This is stupid. I've been coding for 10 years. I'm 21. So am I half way to being intellegent because I've programmed for 10 years, or am I still 20 years off just because I'm not old?
As far as dream cast vs PS2 goes... I love my dreamcast... BUT I have DOA2 on both, and I'm really sorry, but If you can look at them and NOT see which system is CLEARLY superior, you're blind....Sorry. PS2 is just more power... It's worth the $300 if you have it to spare...
Hmmmm... To put it lightly, buying an apex dvd player is a stupid move. (The only good reason to get one is to get an old... pre january2000... 660a so you can de-region encode it...) You get better quality playback off of a bargain 4head vcr. As for the PS2, I've said it multiple times... the picture quality is better than my 2nd gen nakomichi. You're all bashing the PS2 because you (A) haven't seen it yet or (B) can't afford it or (C) just don't want it and are justifying not buying it...
Anyway... I'm sure I'll get totally flamed for saying it, but I got one... I preordered it. I also waited in line all night at BestBuy with my girlfriend to get 2 extras. I know I know... I'm just adding to it... But they're going for a couple grand on ebay... I mean check out ebay item 473399748...
Actually what I'm saying isn't that one is faster than the other. What I was saying is that the shear processing power of a 128bit processor is so exponentially higher than that of a 32bit one that it DOESN'T MATTER. Understood?
PS2 plays PSX games... That means that PS2 TECHNICALLY has litterally THOUSANDS of titles available at launch... Making it the most well backed console ever...
OK... fine the way I look at it, PS, just sounded wrong....like post script... like sony's showing us this system and saying "Oh yeah I almost forgot..." Forgot what you might ask??? So they throw an extra letter on to get rid of the confusion... BUT WHAT LETTER TO ADD? A would suck... G is a little too ghetto... Why not "X"??? I mean, the "Generation X" thing caught on so well right??? So why not?
And now in quite the same fashion... PS2 needs no extra letter... it's got the 2! S there it is...
Actually they whole system was originally made by Sony licensed by nintendo... I've got pictures at home of the original "Nintendo Playstation" anyone interested can email me...
Also, fine faster bus speed is great, but a 300mhz 128 bit processor vx a piii733? Am I wrong in thinking that's a grossly unbalanced battle? I don't know...
yeah, while they're at it they could come up with an xmfc... You know, an extra dvd with its own 40mb of memory to run in... I don't know... Have you ever seen a console crash? Do you think your playstation2 will ever bsod? heh heh heh... Just kidding. I agree and disagree.
I agree in that there are more developers that know pcs than PS2... but that will change... All I know is that I'm an adult, yet I still buy console games for entertainment... Most PC games, though often graphically superior are not nearly as fun.
I disagree in that there are SOOO many crappy titles for PCs, and developers that make games and just hope it turns some sort of profit. I mean, there are companies that put out like 10 games at a time, but they all suck.. you know?
Sony WAS ahead of SNES with the playstation... Oddly enough though the original Playstation was desgined by nintendo. As for the new Playstation, I've got to tell you, I just got to work after picking mine up at 6am today, and GOD WAS IT HARD TO PUT DOWN.
All the hype about bad graphics and flickering may have been true at the Japanese launch, but it's all been ironed out...
As for tough programming, any of you who are developers of any type of software know that a chalenge is a chalenge. That makes work interesting. Most of the companies who got in early and made the best PS1 games are at it still, making some of the most amazing games ever.
All this with only a basic knowledge of the systems gutts. Think where the games will be after a year of toying around, trying different things etc. Come Christmas next year, I see PS2 being in more homes than its father, whether as an internet appliance, a videogame console, or as a home theater must...

...but so are the perl scripts used for the messageboard... they're "vB" board is OBVIOUSLY UltimateBulletinBoard... And THAT is illegal... I think it costs something like $199 to get that software, but seeing as they've changed the name and stolen other knowledge, they probably ripped that off too...

Hope this helps..
It is April 1 in Malaysia (Where the site is), isn't it?
Wow man. You really don't know what you're talking about huh?

Plus it's not nice to call people idiots when they're listening.
