    The law of supply and demand is at best an anecdote.

    Free trade is not about freedom or gratuity.

    Maximizing profits for a given situation is at best antisocial behaviour.

    then why is not a person of color called colored

    The term colored is used to promote the separation of humans, the term is not used like black hair or blond hair. ("person of blond" sounds stupid "person of color" also sounds stupid when you put it in context). Whites and Colored are not descriptions of skin color, they are attemps to justifie blanket descriptions that try to support the notion that not all humans are basically the same, with the same abilities and motivations.

    The perceived differences are social feedback. A multi level social analysis over the past 10,000 years and covering the entire planet would make this obvious.

    What makes profit such a major player it's only a parody of "food in your belly" and with my machine i could create food anyway and profit for that matter and machines for everyone!

    Now the purpose of innovation could be social rest.

    My responce was directed at the notion that Nike creates jobs for the good of the people.

    Free movement of goods and restricted movement of people is economic slavery.

    The global village is social not economic, any theory that claims the status quo is fine because it helps some people fell secure is childish myopia.

    Which should we do? Arrest everyone on Napster (I imagine its a misdemeanor), stop them by monitoring their machine via Carnivore, or write new legislation that is cognizant of the new problems brought about by the new technology?

    Or throw in the gloves and go back, way back, to music as a people thing rather than a technological corporate spectator sport.

    People think that just because something is easy, it is right.

    Now imagine someone invents a materializer. You can just say "I want this" and it appears. A perfect copy or an original, a house, food, money or whatever. It is easy. Now you don't outlaw it's use, tax it or change the laws: you change the fundemental paradigms of society.

    Nerdy? No, philosophy.

    They are there cause the lower the wages the higher the profits

    That last request, though, was a bit sarcastic, and I cannot blame Nike for not following up his request for the picture of a downtrodden underage sweatshop worker.

    I don't think his request qualifies as sarcasm (look it up), he was just asking for a favor.

    Remember those ads that promise you a starving childs picture if you send a donation.

    The electronic frying pan could tell you when youre teflon coated pan is about to become too hot for the survival of the teflon coating itself.

    I'm not sure of the exact temperature at which the coating "burns" but you can test it on youre own pan, just turn the heat up slowly and note at what setting the teflon starts changing color.

    (Warning: a toxic gaz will be produced in sufficient quantities to kill a bird)

    When you add up all the exposure to different cancer enhancing products you can end up with the possibility of dying of cancer at forty as opposed to dying of old age at ninety.

    What he's missing is that in the race to earn profits, corporations have to please people

    this includes the marketing of fear, addictive behaviours and deception

    the corporate race with it's eyes on profit can become akin to a parasite that kills it's host
    it has happened in the past(depression), it can happen again...

    the corporations use of millions for marketing absurd knowledge should be countered with some form of public education/debunking and broadcast with the visibility/penetration similar to corporate marketing strategies

    Some groups have tried to place adds on T.V. that may offend the profits of corporations, these adds have been refused by the networks,
    maybe some form of regulation to make legal content and the ability to pay the going rate the only condition for broadcast

    The only way to stop it is to make people so afraid of possessing it. Otherwise the greed factor kicks in. People typically do things for two reasons. Fear of punishment and hope of reward

    Too much time spent in the "Torture the animals laboratory" ?
    (fear is also a motivation factor for drug use)
