  1. Re:They still won't know for sure... on Comcast Gunning for NAT Users · · Score: 1

Hell ya you got it right, when will people learn that we are basically powerless against corporations. Heck, I work at a bank and I hear them talking about market share and deposits and marketing that says legendary customer service when customer service sucks and they talk about consumers are just some cattle and how we can charge more fees. I would like to remind the Exec's that they are just cattle too.

  2. DoS = repay for bad customer service on ISP Forced Out of Business by DoS · · Score: 1

There has been many times that I wish I could pay back a company for screwing me, either because of bad customer support or some fee or policy. I bet they just pissed off the wrong person and they paid for it with their business.

  3. Re:This is bad for Tivo.. on Microsoft's Family Room Change · · Score: 1
Since the Xbox has no TV tuner(s) like UltimateTV had I see no way it will compete with Tivo.

Maybe with Xbox 2.0 they will had a 100gig drive and 2 TV tuners and directTV, but then the price will sky rocket to $800. But who wants a video game system, satelite box, PVR and web surfing appliance in one unit. The whole point of components is to mix and match.

Who wants to web surf on a TV anyways, my father has a WebTV and the picture is horriable. I would rather do without Internet then have to view webpages on a TV.

Thank you for asking. I hate when someone post one of these articles and thinks everyone who reads slashdot knows all the acronyms in the world.

  5. Call! on What to do when your registrar (NSI) ignores you? · · Score: 1

Just call them. My employer refuses to switch away from NSI. "What if the new registar goes out of business?" is what he says, whatever! I have a pain in the ass time everytime I deal with them, just call wait the 45 minutes and don't leave till get done what you want.

  6. IBM Visual Age for Java on Java IDEs? · · Score: 1

My company uses IBM Visual Age for Java and I got to say it rocks. It has color coding, central repositroy, built-in versioning and every time you save your code it checks to make sure there are no errors and will make suggestions to fix it. One feature I really like is the auto-complete. You just type the first few letters of a function and it will give you a list, even functions you created get put into the list.

  7. Patch them already... damnit! on Code Red III · · Score: 1
I don't get it, this is all over the tech news and people have not patched yet. Come on already.

I run iPlanet (Netscape) at work and Apache at home and I just sit back and laugh at all the default.ida hits in my logs. My boss asked me "Are they getting anything?", and I said "Ya, a 404 error."

  8. Netscape worked fine on UK Government Locks Out Non-MS Browsers · · Score: 1

I went to the site with Netscape 4.7 on Win2000 and it worked fine. I must be missing something because it only says older versions of browsers are not supported. Also what is strange is that they are refusing 40-bit browsers. I work as a webmaster at a bank and we use what is called a step-up cert. It actually upgrades the connection to 128 bit even if the browser is 40 bit, maybe that is an US only thing.

  9. So if SSH is in my product name I get sued? on Secure Shell Will Remain 'SSH' · · Score: 2
So if I create a product and call it, let's say, FrogSSHit, then I am using the SSH trademark. How does OpenSSH differ from FrogSSHit.

I must be living in the dark but until recently I though SSH was ONLY a protocol. There is a company called SSH, that is news to me.

They should change their name like Helix Code had to do. I have a suggestion... FrogSSHit. I won't sue, I promise! Hey they could even get frogsshit.com. It is avaliable.
