Search around. A few years ago, I found an archive of the Joust sounds. There's some here and Joust (and other era games) screens and has other sounds. I suspect the game companies go after sites with sounds, so Google for more if some get killed.
It bounced around a bit today to 10.75, down 0.25 from the opening of 11.0. The interesting thing is that the bid price seems to be heading down to 9.0. (Asking is 10.89.) Tommorow, I think we might see some skydiving. (Hopefully without a 'chute!)
Colonel "Bat" Guano:.. But if you don't
win that lawsuit, you know what's gonna happen to you? Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: What?! Colonel "Bat" Guano: You're gonna have to answer to the Coked-SCOla company.
Let's see if I can twist this tortured analogy further: in the McDonald's (IBM) case, McDonald's gave them some lettuce in the first place. SCO is claiming that McDonald's is now using the same lettuce in its burgers. They can prove that both are green.
Oh, and with the users, SCO is asking them months later "Hey! Are you going to pay for that burger or what? That'll be $699, unless you had the BigMac, then it'll be more!"
Maybe Microsoft is waiting for SCO to halt and catch fire, then they'll buy at less than a penny a share. The UNIX IP would no longer the ultimate weapon but still useful. Microsoft would win either way: If SCO wins, Microsoft wins big. If SCO loses, Microsoft still gets a smaller win.
Now if it came to light that there was a secret agreement to do this all along...
(This is far-fetched speculation, but it has a small amount of plausability.)

Hey, at least one person bought one of those $699 licences to get a look at it. That'll keep them in coke for a few more days. (Although, at the rate they seem to be snorting it...)
The guy 'hacked' passwords of other Acxiom clients off of an unsecure file tranfer server, then used the access privledges of some big clients to suck down data. Then he was probably going to sell that data.. just like Acxiom is doing right now.
Acxiom doesn't care if people have access to personal data gathered about you; that's what they do; it's their purpose in life.
So what really pisses Acxiom off about this? Those big clients are going to go over their bills and demand a refund for the stolen access.
And that he 'hacked' other client passwords off of a file transfer server outside of their firewall. Go Acxiom Security! Put up a big security wall, then leave the keys to the front door under the mat outside!
I suspect that their security is mainly aimed at preventing access to data.. that hasn't been paid for. Think of it, this guy had no more access than Acxion's other clients such as Microsoft. Here's fun:
[June 1999] By next April the company will offer, via the Internet, detailed information on the income level, marital status, and buying habits of 95 percent of the US population. Acxiom says access will be affordable for small businesses, even individuals. (The company does plan to screen requests for data, but it hasn't yet explained the criteria by which it will evaluate them.)
Barrett said the individual in police custody is a former employee of one of Acxiom's clients and that the information was stolen while the person had legitimate access to Acxiom servers.
``They used that access to hack into the passwords of other clients,'' she said.
Barrett said the offender gained access by hacking encrypted passwords from clients who access the server. The server, which was outside a firewall, was used ``for clients to transfer files to us and for us to transfer files back to the clients,'' she said.
Probably meant Bromine added to water to increase the surface tension. Let me consult the Index to All Knowledge... Bah! Too many big science bloody PDF files out there.
If Jesus used corn starch maybe he could used one of those Ninja running tricks? Standing still wouldn't be possible, but tap-dancing (RiverDance?) might work.
They did include that neat image in the article, but your link'll be useful for people who don't RTFA.:^) Hopefully the area around North Korea will never really light up. Bombs Not Food, what stupid idea!
Wasn't there a whole big thing in the 50's about censoring comics?
Sure was! The Comic Code Lots of good hoots there, scroll down to The Seduction of the Innocent... and Dr. Frederick Wertham:
He claims that the difference between comics and pornography for adults was that one was meant to attract perverts, the other, comics, was meant create them.
He claimed Batman and Robin were a homosexual couple and nothing more than propaganda. He blames the rise of open homosexuals on comics. Were he not so serious, his comments would have been quite humorous. Observe the following Wertham observations:
Any description of the material anywhere so I can judge for myself just how obscene it was? I'd ask if there was a web site for it, but I guess someone in Butthole, state of Wheretheheck (Pop 23.5) would have got it shutdown if there was.
Another one rides the bus! And another gets on, and another gets on! Another one rides the bus! Yeah!

Harder to find. Those vector displays tend to go quicker.

As of posting, it's down 0.28 to 10.75. Bid/Ask: 10.59/10.77. Open/High/Lo: 11.00/11.25/10.58. Seems to be bouncing around a bit.

What's worse, the BBB in each city or whatever seems to be a franchise operation.
