  1. Good for the gander.... on Microsoft's CLR - Providing a Break from HW Vendors? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Why is control of the only layer that makes a difference evil when done by M$oft but innovative when done by Sun and Netscape?
(Java, the browser as a platform (see Judge Jackson's findings of fact) I have to admit that M$ is not being so obvious of their intentions, if that is what they are.

  3. I wasn't trolling on Is Linux Losing Its SPARC? · · Score: 1

I started this subthread. I was thinking; hmmm - is there commercial software of ANY sort for Linux/SPARC? Even Netscape? Is there a Java implementation? I like to buy stuff and do banking over the net; I need a working browser with SSL on any machine I use much.

Why do you want to do this, why would someone prefer Linux to Solaris on SPARC? I'm genuinely curious

  5. CSS, font-weight and such on Mozilla 0.9 Out · · Score: 1

CSS Still doesn't look so hot in Mozilla - although the font weaknesses of X on Linux may be to blame. Things like font-weight don't work right as far as I can tell. Still, the overall speed and feel of 0.9 is very good.
