  1. Re:Unemployment! If only it were that hard... on Unemployed? How Long Until You Find That Next Job · · Score: 1

Man sometimes I WISH I could get laid off again.

In California... filing unemployment insurance means calling up a 1800 number and giving them your information on the phone where they schedule a time for someone to call you who asks a few more stupid questions... then every couple weeks you receive a letter in the mail where you promptly check "Yes I looked for work," and "No I didnt make any wages," and maybe one or two other similar questions... wether you want your income tax taken out of it or not... then you mail it back and go back to laziness.

These paragraphs sum it up pretty well:

"A University of Pennsylvania computer science professor, Jonathan Smith, had originally applied for the grant under the title, "Portable Open-Source Security Enhancements," or POSSE. About $500,000 of the money went to several U.K. researchers to do a vulnerability analysis on OpenSSL, a widely used program for encrypting communications, especially to and from Web sites. A handful of flaws were found, de Raadt said.

Smith refused to comment on the funding, citing the sensitivity of the issue. An email to the POSSE project's DARPA representative wasn't answered.

Earlier this week, de Raadt said he was told that officials from DARPA were concerned about statements appearing in press reports that indicated most of the grant was being funneled to foreign researchers, an apparent no-no for government-funded projects. Moreover, de Raadt believed that the U.S. government took exception to comments he made indicating that the money spent on his project meant that fewer cruise missiles were being built."

Well, I seem to recall he had a definite fondness to BSD flavors and disliking of linux... but that might have also just been Bill H.'s influence.

He did have a huge ego... but the technical expertise to back it up.

I was surprised to not see Frank D.'s name associated with the company... He was like Doug without the ego... quite the hardware/software hackers.

Doug always did when I worked with him (at Internet America) at least...

I can't belive he's working with Jovan again.
Marketing Genius behind the Tripple-Edge Windshield Wipers... :P I always thought that was funny...

Jovan is probably the best and biggest liar/cheat i've met to date :P

I do have a decent bit of respect for Doug's technical knowledge... but am kinda surprised to see him working with Jovan again...
