    Most web browsers don't appear to use OpenSSL for encryption, but the bug makes the session key of all SSL connections subject to guessing.

    Copied directly from the advisory:

    Affected keys include SSH keys, OpenVPN keys, DNSSEC keys, and key material for use in X.509 certificates and session keys used in SSL/TLS connections.

    Just to clarify, it affects any SSL connection initiated by OpenSSL (so Firefox isn't at risk, it doesn't use OpenSSL).

    The client uses the random number generator to set up a key for the secure session. It generates the random number and encrypts it with the servers public key.

    It affects all https connections, even client https connections. They are probably transient enough to mitigate the issue, but they are impacted.

    How many OpenSSH keys have you generated on that particular box? How many dollars worth of transactions have you done over SSL connections?

    EDS does $22 billion in services.

    HP does $17 billion in services.

    Dell does $6 billion in services.

    The deal probably isn't quite about Dell.

    I would think that you could capture them for $100 a piece, so the shipping costs would be the real important factor, and it looks like shipping a horse costs thousands of dollars, so shipping a camel is probably going to cost thousands of dollars, so it wouldn't work.

    Zebra mussels have had a real, negative economic impact on the Great Lakes. Drastically reducing the probability of reintroduction means that you become willing to spend more on eradication.

    There seems to be quite a bit of middle ground. There are the people who get pregnant in order to rescue frozen embryos, and then there are the people who get repeated, failed fertility treatments. Both could claim to represent the religious side of the house.

    I looked around and got the impression that it was 17 in Texas, but I didn't find any good sources, and there was a lot of stuff about a program to reduce the drop out rate, so it wouldn't be shocking if it had changed and there was conflicting info out there.

    There are fixed per gallon taxes and sales tax. In my state, Michigan, the federal tax is taxed with state sales tax, but the state road tax (which is in addition to the sales tax) is not taxed with sales tax.

    Anyway, the federal component of gasoline taxes is generally per gallon, not per dollar. My numbers for the federal component were high.

    Any idea how often the child and abductor are related?

    There are amber alerts about 4 or 6 times (that I notice anyway, I can't back that up very well) a year here (the northern half of the lower peninsula of Michigan), but a lot of them seem to be a parent that is violating a custody agreement or whatever.

    How is the information on the map any greater a risk than allowing a child to go outside without constant supervision? That's something 10 year old kids used to get to do, and there weren't more abductions when I was a kid (a short 20 years ago) than there are now.

    As for the parent/family member part, they usually have a decent idea where their kids live, so they don't need a map to find them.

    If we are going to carefully parse my words, we should carefully parse the statement "in the event that a court disagrees".

    I wasn't particularly aware of how a court would go about establishing the intent of a license, but the fact that they would probably read what RMS has to say doesn't actually mean that they would agree.
