MS is going to get a shit load of tech support calls over this!
Aha! But tech support calls to Microsoft cost money. I see this as a whole new business model. I can see the suit in the boardroom now.
"You see, we have this 'security feature' that both prevents users from installing software, but also drives revenue by increasing support contacts. Thereby putting the support sector in the black and giving us more 'touch time' to work on our public image through direct interaction with our customers."
The way that I saw the ending was a continuation of the slavery idea that ran through the entire film. You notice the only human who wasn't obviously white was the fellow who travelled with the hero. He was marked to look like what I thought was some sort of native. (ie. Native Americans and the like) The ending topped it all off. Marky Mark returns to what would be our time (or some near future, I don't think you can trust his clock, they said the storm was stopping all the digital clocks on the station) to find that the leader of the ape faction, who didn't agree with the human emancipation project in the beginning, may have freed them. Hence his placement in Lincholn's memorial. This is a not-too-subtle parallel to Lincholn's civil war action. Lincoln didn't agree with the emancipation idea, he made the proclomation to bring the nation together and cripple the south. (If you read it, the states that were still in the union could still own slaves. Only the states in rebellion lost the legal right.)
There was a civil war by the Senator's Daughter to free the humans. They used an Underground 'passage' with the assistance of sympathetic apes to escape their slavery. Even the word "human" was used the way that the word "nigger" would be used in slave-owning America. "He's one of their house humans, he thinks he is better than us." I think that may have been a reference to a line from Roots? (Correct me if I'm wrong)
The ending was a comment on current American culture. The humans may have been freed, but the Apes were still in all the positions of power. They were the Police. They were the Firemen, and the kicker, they controlled the media. (ie. the reporters) Instead of the French idea of imigration, citizenship, and general human rights, with West Africa (meaning of book?) this took the idea and made it uniquely American. Not to feed us more sermons on the ills of slavery, but to point out that in the end, things still haven't changed much. They still have a ways to go.
Support for Human Emanciapation Theory:
In the movie it was quoted that Apes can't invent on their own. To have cars, cameras, and the like they would have to have human help. The reason that humans would have to been emancipated is the fact that they made the contribution of invention/innovation to the Ape/Human society instead of using it against the apes (a quote from the legendary ex-general).
As someone who has yet to buy a DVD player, and has a small interest in console gaming, my major interest in this article whether or not the PS2 can stand up to other cheap DVD players. If I can buy a DVD player of equal quality that also happenes to play Playstation games, in my eyes, that would be a good move. I'm looking at it from a DVD first, game box second perspective. I'm sure I am a monority, but buying a DVD player could introduce me to console gaming, and the playstation. If Sony factored considered this in the inclusion of DVD functionality, they may be just as smart as the article claims.
How about a book?
Are you kidding me? Did I just see someone on Slashdot make fun of someone else for overusing a joke?!
Well let me clue you in sonny Jim, in Soviet Russia, the jokes overuse you!

Brilliant.
You're right. They weren't the first. But there's definately something to be said (and quite a stock price to be made) from being the BEST.
Leave it to the Catholics to destroy existence.

That's my take! Hope it made sense!
