    Compaq has done more for Alpha in the last year then DEC ever did! Compaq even has a page listing which AlphaServer systems are ready to run Linux! Or did you miss the fact that they sent Linus a AlphaServer DS20 for Linux development just a few weeks ago???

    I think my statement was far from being "a bigger dick statement".

    It's on it's way... And there is Tru64 (formerly Digital UNIX), which is the fastest Oracle platform anywhere!

    M$ doesn't have a chance, unless they ran it on a Compaq AlphaServer 8400 (or GS140). Then they might have a chance, of course Oracle could then just run their database on the same machine...

  6. Old Alphas on Where Online can you go to buy old SPARC/Alpha Hardware? · · Score: 1

    I got a AXPpci33 MB with 32MB RAM and 256K cache 3 months old for $170 last year. I also got a AS200 4/233 with 32MB RAM and S3 ViRGE/DX for $220 brand new with full original warranty. All of these items I got from computers.ebay.com - BTW I have no association with ebay other than being a happy user.
