Currently, it is much to faint to be seen by the naked eye, but, in 1,502,000 A.D. it will be at.6 magnitude, rivaling the current bright star of Antares.
Sirius is the brightest star with an apparent magnitude of -1.46. Antares is about the 15th brightest star with an apparent magnitude of 0.96.
Why don't you guys just recorde yourselves individually and put everything together in post. Isn't that what you do anway. I'm sure mix master Pater can make it work.
What about AMD optimizations, I would assume AMD optimized code would run faster than any plain x86 code. And other compilers, yes most programmes are done in MSVC++, but I do all of my work(as well as most/.ers) with gcc. This only measures cpu preformance. With the 100Mhz bus and Rambus on the P4, and a 200Mhz bus with DDR on the Athalon, The Athalon will give you better overall preformance for less $$.
I think it's great that Caldera has finally realized the importance of COLA to FreeSoftware. Requiring a COLA per workstation will, IMHO, greatly increase productivity and worker satisfaction. My only question is what brand?

because the the stories, comments, and lame jokes are free. hardware isn't.
I agree that bad drivers and shitty hardware can bring down the system. But Netscape or a crappy mp3 player crashing shouldn't bring down the whole OS. I use Netscape 4.7(motif) in Linux and when I goes down in flames the OS remains stable.
Would it be easier if there were some sort of central authority keeping track of libs (keeping track, checking for conflict and overlap). I am also led to believe that all of this code does not need to be linked. I prefer to have one big binary, over a small one with 12 libs.
Sidewalk Astronomers set up telescopes on city sidewalks and introduce people to astronomy by inviting them to look through their scopes.
If you are at all interested in astronomy, look into a local astronomy club. I've been involved with the Atlanta Astronomy Club for the past five years, and the members are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are all kinds of people doing pretty much any kind of astronomy you can imagine. The Google list is here.
Grinding is a very difficult task. It isn't that hard to learn, but takes a good while and is easy to screw up. It would probably be easier to buy the mirror and build the telescope, or buy a decent scope secondhand from somebody who doesn't know how to use it.
2600 did break the law (DMCA). There are two ways to fix a law: 1. lobby congress (hard to do without money). 2. break the law and try to convince the courts to rule the law unconstitutional. 2600 is doing the latter.
There have been some great advances in radio observation of comets. A Phd of Astronomy I know says the year of observations she did for her thesis, could now be done in three days. Mind you they know of a lot of molecules found in comets, the problem is they quickly break apart after leaving the neucleus. This will force a lot of material out very fast.

Corrections (I'm sure there will be) accepted.
If they really want it to go through, I'm sure some monetary compensation could get it on the root servers.

...let the smoke out of the wires again.
I recall a similar experiment with mice cause them to repeatedly stimulate themselves until death.
Yet another reason to switch to OpenBIOS.
How dare you think about enjoying work. Thou shalt be miserable. Get back to your slave labour.
Some compromise could be reached. I'm saying more code in the binary, not all of it.
Unfortunately not every application is as stable and well prodouced as Opera

no, no, no. Tasco is the PB of telescopes. Meade is not that bad. For the truely serious, there are 20-30" techtrons.

Couldn't resist.

I'm not so sure it always works out. (IIRC) Fox news got confused about the story (or didn't care) and claimed that IBM was promoting it's Linux OS.
