A 'long time ago in a galaxy far away' I used to make energy drinks.. (actually, we called them smartdrinks) commercially. And I was quite successful.. some might even say legendary..
;)
Some of my gleanings.. Actually, caffeine is a bad ingredient to use to create *programming* energy drinks because even though it stimulates the peripheral nervous system, it doesnt improve attention span. Guarana = caffeine.. so the same caveat applies.. Ephedra also isn't good, although it's a bit better than caffeine for programming..
Some things I think would make excellent additions.. Alerting neurotransmitter precursors such as tyrosine and phenylalanine improve vigilance..
DMAE (a precursor of acetylcholine) is also a good pepper-upper..
Pyroglutamic acid.. (a relative of piracetam) is a good neuronutrient that has a stimulating effect..
I could go on and on.. *laugh*
The trick is in covering up the tastes.. Some trade secrets in there.. Should I tell them?
It's beginning to seem plausible that much of what we know about prehistory is clearly wrong..
Excavations at Santorini (the Aegean Sea) have found four and five story buildings with indoor plumbing and heating systems.. dating back to before 1800 BC.. They are buried under as much as 200 meters of ash from the huge volcanic eruptions there..
My first thought of course is 'what idiots'.. but my second thought was.. how great.. With this 'anti piracy' idiocy they will radicalize every 15 year old kid in America.. Give them some rope to hang themselves.. They clearly WILL!

In Europe and Asia broadcasters are using spread-spectrum techniques to broadcast, using much less bandwidth (hence more channels are available) and resulting in a better system all around.
How come we don't have that here?
It could
eliminate the scarcity of broadcasting channels,
allow wider diversity in programming,
sound better,
and the radios could be made much more cheaply too.
By the most conservative estimates, they could quadruple the number of channels available using the existing spectrum. This is actually *quite* conservative, many people think digital radio could easily increase the number of channels available by a factor of 10 or more..
For example, in the bandwidth taken by just *one* current TV channel, you could fit five times the number of FM stations that exist on the whole FM band now. (And interference would be completely eliminated.)
Plus, the equipment to set up a digital broadcasting station is much cheaper than what is required for old-fashioned analog broadcasting. This would make it affordable to churches, community groups, music lovers, and hometown sports teams.
What's going on in Washington? How come the Europeans and Asians have digital radio and we don't?
I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard stuff like that when I was in high school. What kind of stuff are these people smoking, these are HIGH SCHOOL KIDS... There must be something about the neurology of kids that age.. they curse a lot..they try to seem tougher than they (always) really are.. You dont need a degree to realize that.. just some common sense.. Its arguably a natural part of becoming an individual.. separating from your parents.. Kids almost always grow out of it.. This is almost as dumb as another story I heard recently, some midwest city..they are *prosecuting* a *15 year old boy* for having *consensual* sex with his 15 year old girlfriend..(parents walked in) COME ON... Who hasnt that happened to when they were that age? "Trying to send a message" they said.. Yeah.. they are sending a message all right.. That this country is f***** crazy. Cant we call a spade a spade instead of being all gentle and kind and dumb? Like cows being led to the slaughter...
JonKatz said that crime is way down, and I believe it. It sure is WAY down around here..So why are they whining so much? What are they trying to accomplish? Turn us all into dried up shrunken sourpusses like Trent Lott? Turn us all against each other when we *should* be happy? I don't get these people. Why dont they just go back to irrelevance-land where they KNOW they come from...Or die, since they are almost there anyway, emotionally.
If it wasnt for the overwhelming apathy that they have induced, people would throw up in their faces.. *Nobody* thinks like that except for the idiot politicians.. I know who we should inform on.. The real perverts are the ones with the dirty minds.. the preachers..
Maybe Ralph Nader was right when he said the best thing that could happen to America is a Bush presidency. This will radicalize everybody.. even mainstream computer users, and ensure a rapid changeover to Free Software..Nobody will want to buy a new computer or new software..
Used equipment will soar in value, and of course, selling used software will also be criminalized..
And when all the software companies start laying off thousands, they will outlaw that....and then..
Does anyone know the address of the Passport Office?
How come nobody brought up Spread Spectrum digital radio in this debate?
The "scarcity" and "interference" arguments just don't hold water anymore.. Europe has digital radio and it's cheaper, sounds much better, and you can fit 10 times as many channels on the band without them interfering with each other. So this whole "scarcity" argument is bunk.
Or is that irrelevant? Oh yeah.. This is America...
vinpocetine rocks for concentration.. Find it at health food stores. Take 15-30 mg of it a day. Look it up on medline. It really works..

Give me a break...
This is the best news Ive heard all week *laugh*
