At least those strips are mostly just inoffensive. It's strips like Hi&Lois and Family Circus that I simultaneously abhor and yet must read. Heck, Chip might be getting a tongue piercing any day now.

To quote/paraphrase from a character ranting about FC in the movie Go: ".. and there it is in the bottom right corner of the funnies page, just waiting to suck."

The article-writer's arguments work fine for me personally, as long as there are only two teams. Unfortunately, there are many more than 2. The popular vote almost never represents a majority, as a consequence, in these elections. I believe an article posted here a month ago discussed alternate voting methods. The direct popular vote won't work either, imo. I think a pure rating system (5 candidates? rate them 1-5 and the winner is the one with the most points) will result in better voter satisfaction. Retain the electoral college and do it within the states, if you wish to retain that structure.

You will only get as good as you give. If you do not provide the overseas development team with a set of requirements, and if you do not require a design specification from them first, and if you do not review said specification thoroughly, you cannot expect to receive project code that can just be handed off. You will be lucky to get something that works and does anything even remotely close to what you desire.

One of my company's clients is in this boat - their specs were not thorough, and they had a decidedly hands-off approach to managing this overseas team. They got a huge, bloated mess of code and nobody was happy.

I believe it can be done but lobbing stuff to overseas developers and wiping your hands of the matter will burn you! Your responsibilities aren't relieved; they just change.
