Stallman makes a great point regarding Vietnam. America was looking for the bogeyman a.k.a communist post WWII and fell into a lot of traps along the way. Now the US has found a new bogeyman, the dreaded terrorist. This will welcome in a new era of McCarthyism. The new witch hunt will lead to reaffirming the government as the great UNQUESTIONABLE protector. Government will need to meaner and more omnipresent then ever before. Or else the bogeyman will getchya! And you wouldn't want that because if you do you must be either a commi or a terrorist. And either way we gotta kill ya!
I find it interesting that a few weeks after closing port 80 and not offering some usenet (playboy mostly) they go to the can. Oh, and the untold stories of tech hell.
Is this packet karma at work? Have the internet gods struck down the powers of evil? Should we expect more miracles of divine intervention?
I was going about my normal networking business when a girl asked me to come over and "help with her computer." First we started with the? "mac address." Soon we were deep into "tcp/ip." She then asked if I wanted to see her bed! When we got there she showed me where the?"wall jack" was. I could?ve touched her boob if I wanted!
Smaller sites will never be able to get the bigger ISPs to pay attention to their work AND get paid for content. I can't imagine my ISP (Bell Sympatico) paying for 'Old Man Murray'. They wouldn't get it. Every site added would be by the "Commitee of Paid Content". They would only end up paying for Disney and the like, which is not really content, but rather advertising.
Part of the problem is stupid admins. They want strong passwords changed every 3 days for internal joe average accounts. What else can they do but post it to their keyboard?
I think what is missing is the composition. Van Gogh didn't just paint with funny streaks and wobbly reflections. He picked subjects and views that he wanted to express. Computers can do it, but not in the same vein as an artist. We would need a thousand monkeys first. Oh and a some absinth (Absinth.com).
If the the implications of the Hague Convention on Jurisdiction and Foreign Judgments is used in the same way the Hague Treaty on War Crimes is used, I think Americans have nothing to worry about.
American foreign policy over the past 50 years has been so intrusive and exploitive that it boarders on criminal. From these actions no American's have ever been brought to trial, but the US has had no questions on trying others, including Germans, Japanese, Yugoslavs, Rwandans, etc (and rightfully so). The Hague has used Amerian judges and prosecuters to take down all but their own and closest allies.
GM is making its first steps now? They are a bit slow. Many others have invested are starting to see results. Check it out:
'Ballard Power Systems is recognized as the world leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing zero-emission proton exchange membrane fuel cells for use in transportation, electricity generation and portable power products. Ballard Power Systems proprietary fuel cell technology is enabling automobile, electrical equipment and portable power product manufacturers to develop environmentally clean products for sale.
The fundamental component of these end-user products is the Ballard® fuel cell that combines hydrogen (which can be obtained from methanol, natural gas, petroleum or renewable sources) and oxygen (from air) without combustion to generate electricity.
Ballard is partnering with strong, world-leading companies, including DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GPU International, ALSTOM and EBARA, to commercialize Ballard fuel cells. Ballard has also supplied fuel cells to Honda, Nissan, Volkswagen, Yamaha, Cinergy, Coleman Powermate and Matsushita Electric Works, among others.'
If I find out that NASA shoots down a comet that is headed for my back yard, I'll be pissed. Further, I'll sue for 'wrongfull loss of comet'. The bastards are stealing good space minerals that you could sell to tourists. What is capitalism worth when you have a comie space agency taking good space cash out of your pocket?
Where is Don King when you need him? What chess needs is some pimps to get the show going. Glitter, lights, some girls and a whole lotta dirty money going around.
A while back, 1994, I saw a demo of 'speaker tape'(aka Microstructured Elastomeric Electromagnetic Film Transducer). Same idea as the above, but not for sound. The plan was to reduce vibrations in things like airplane wings during take-off. It was supposed to save 30% of the fuel used during take-off.
They too originally thought it would work for speakers, but found the sound sucked.
Does TUCOWS open letter mean that people could shut down their Win32 software distribution if people sent them flame mail in regards to its accurateness?
When Tucows periodically gets something "wrong" on the BSD site, we receive a barrage of angry user comments. Paradoxically, when we use this advice to make adjustments we receive an equally prolific battering from other BSD factions indicating that we had it correct to begin with. Any attempt to provide a middle ground only results in hostility from all sides.
Why doesn't some rogue company come out with a system that will allow you to copy the signal? The moment just before it goes to your screen must make it vulnerable to capturing. That same company could make a bundle by selling hard drives that don't have the signature system.
Why must we all bend over for these media tyrants?
Is Look Communications failing from its wireless net access?
I don't think so. Look dables in a lot of different areas from DSL, dial up, and its original business of wireless digital TV. They have made some major acquisitions in the last year and are growing fast in all areas, but are having a hard time paying for of all of this.To assume that it is failing becuase of wireless net access is to not take in the whole picture.
The wireless system that Look has in place is a thing of beauty. It is 3 mbps down and 200 kbps up. Costs the same as cable or DSL up here ~ $40 cdn *AND* gives you a static IP. The only problem is that they have a backlog of installations until mid January or so and may not be doing any new installs after that since they do not have the capital to pay for the needed equipment. Boo hoo.
So to conclude - Wireless good - Looks business model bad. Nothing more can be taken from it.
Look.ca is trying to be a big fat ISP. It is only interested in your money not your freedom. consume.net and guerilla.net are trying to make you your own ISP giving you your freedom. Just because Look is wireless doesn't mean that it is the same.
The models that I have met couldn't change a dog's thinking. I don't think that "Super Models" are any more influential. I thought that slashdot would be a little above any of this model stuff, it should be left to 'In Style' or any of that other fluf.
Bahahaha....
DudeMan.

Cycon, is what you are hoping for?
Let the video card war begin!
Let the Great House of NVidia and the Great House ATI show me what you are made of!

Why would anything change? It's a kangaroo court.

It seems that technology maybe in a loop.
I don't know if I should be taking my gaming advice from a dude that looks like Michael Jackson?
I still think that they are still candy-asses, mind you.

In any event they sound like candy-asses.
I thought that who has the most money wins? Not votes. Oh, and who has the supreme court on their side.
Just ask Michael Moore. Good luck dude.
