really though, as far as problems which will be posed by new technologies: just look at england, where they've recently allowed for stem-cell research using discarded human fetuses(from abortions). now there's an ethical, and by extension legal, minefield if i've ever seen one.
in a world of nearly free dissemination of ideas, the black box is the only way the media companies can keep control of their data. just look at the sdmi's 'watermarks.'
i haven't heard of this happening before (anyone less ignorant than me out there?)
lets just hope this is not a sign of things to come, as it can't be that hard to track people like the guy at oklahoma state...
