Where I work, if they caught me installing Office 2000 on my machine, they'd fire me for being an idiot. Oh, by the way-- did I mention I run Linux at work?:)

Especially Bush in that he is against a women's right to choose for her baby to be ripped from her womb and slaughtered, and he likes to see convicted criminals have the sentence that the justice system of the legislature allows be carried out. -- You see, it's all in how you say it.

I wouldn't say stupid -- just ignorant. I consider myself to be a fairly smart person (yeah right, like who doesn't), but I am also smart enough to know that I don't know nearly enough to make informed decisions on most legislature, and I don't have time to learn the things I'd need to know. Elected representatives are good. It's their full time job to know enough to make these decisions. However, I do beleive we should be able to directly elect elected representatives.
Umm...You guys do know that it's not just a choice between Gore or Bush right? Legally, IIRC, you can write in whomever you want. Of course, it still won't matter, being that the electoral college probably has no idea who they are. It's interesting to think that if sixty percent of the voters wrote my name in on the ballot, but no one in the electoral college voted for me, the winner would be someone who received, at most, two thirds of the votes that I did. That sounds like your vote makes a difference to me. Don't get me wron, I don't support apathy either, but voting alone is not going to make a difference. We have to make ourselves heard in other ways too.
Granted, Amazon does tend to have good prices, and it is usually easy to find what you are looking for on their site, but there are other online bookresellers you can use.
If Amazon's customers stop shopping because of this patent, they will have no choice but to not enforce it or go out of businness. Granted, getting that many people to actually stop using Amazon (especially when 90% of them don't even know about this situation) would be pretty hard, but I for one am not going to send my money to a company who's business practices I disagree with.
So there you have it. If you disagree with what Amazon (or any other company) is doing, stop sending them money. Instead, send them a letter saying you will not use their products/services while they continue to do whatever it is you disagree with. So what are you waiting for -- feedback@amazon.com.
I believe he said "... a use of a program..." as in 'one of the functions of the program'. Next thing you know, the use of SMB, NFS, etc will be under attack.

You idiot. China doesn't make and sell the most distributions of Linux now, do they?

No because then it would be nucular. :)
And if that would work in the real world it would be a good idea. So where are you a manager at again? :)
